This email is to refer you to my new ThinkScotland post which I hope can help you to counter the Uniparty’s false propaganda on Net Zero. It gives unequivocal proof from official publications that Net Zero is a dangerous fraud. In my opinion based on decades of study, Net Zero has got nothing to do with climate change or “saving the planet”. The following explores the obvious futility of Net Zero and joins the dots with the wider political skulduggeries going on all around us. My conclusions are bleak and depressing. I just wish someone could persuade me that I’ve got it all wrong and that all the oppressions and privations being inflicted on the people of Britain by the establishment class are genuinely for our own good. As if.

Respected energy analyst David Turver recently summed up the mendacities of Net Zero in his post Everything about Net Zero is fake. He concluded:

“Net Zero is a fib, wrapped in a falsehood inside a farrago of lies. Net Zero is peddled by tricksters, charlatans and shysters to scare the public into handing their money over to parasites sucking the lifeblood from the economy. It is time for reality to bite back, for Net Zero to be abandoned and the debt to truth to be repaid.”

I agree with David that Net Zero is “sucking the lifeblood from the economy” but, sadly, I believe it is much deeper and darker than that. I believe that Net Zero is a covert deep state project originally designed to suck the lifeblood out of all Western civilisation. It’s original aims were to stunt human progress in the name of “saving the planet” but they are now more overtly about raw political control, seemingly modelled on Orwell’s dystopian 1984. I called it out two years ago in my post Debunking the climate change hoax.

This multi-tentacle deep state body comprises, inter alia, the British deep state remnant of Empire and its affiliates in commonwealth countries and the EU (which for decades has been self-harming into geopolitical irrelevance, with the continental Europe share of global GDP down from 25% in 1990 to 14% in 2025), the Democrats in the USA (hopefully now a political irrelevance thanks to Trump), the World Economic Forum (ditto), the United Nations (being increasingly sidelined by Trump) and other such unaccountable NGOs often supported by unaccountable billionaire “philanthropaths” such as the Rockefellers, George Soros and Bill Gates (many now on Trump’s watch list), all pushing for totalitarian one-world governance.

Why else would UK Uniparty politicians all push for what they must realise is utterly pointless yet economically-suicidal unilateral Net Zero (my ThinkScotland post) if they weren’t under the thumb of deep state overlords? Admittedly the Conservatives under Badenoch have had a Net Zero epiphany, see here and here, but I suspect it may be only lukewarm and skin deep as the party is awash with CEN “greens”.

Thankfully the Trump administration is waging a publicly-unspoken diplomatic war against the malign control still exerted by the British deep state. The political economy group Promethean Action has been campaigning against this deep state cancer for decades. In this post from a year ago they showed how the British deep state seemed prepared to risk provoking WW3 with Russia (with the same reckless belligerence on display today) to try to stop President Trump’s “American System” economic revolution which it sees as an existential threat to its own power and influence.

This goes back to Trump’s first term when Britain’s MI6 helped to concoct fake evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election for Obama to try to impeach him, actions exposed at the start of this post and here by now-retired DNI Tulsi Gabbard. When that failed they tried to imprison him on false charges. When that failed they set him up to be assassinated.

The same foul playbook is being used against Nigel Farage and other “populist” leaders in Europe, described by Mr Farage in his bombshell public statement of 7 July 2026.

Historians are baffled (/sarc) at the coincidence that every past USA leader who promoted the “American System” which MAGA President Trump is now resurrecting ended up being assassinated: Treasury Secretary Hamilton 1804 (to be exact, he was killed in a duel with Aaron Burr, the sitting Democrat Vice President), President Lincoln 1865, President McKinley 1901. Donald Trump dodged the same fate by a hair’s breadth at Butler Pennsylvania on 13 July 2024, since followed by two further failed assassination attempts.

Paradoxically, the main oppressions inflicted on the people of Britain in recent times have been driven by the British deep state via their treasonous Uniparty politician puppets. Hence I don’t think it is in any way unpatriotic to wish President Trump every success in his campaign to defeat it.

Who knows, the British deep state might even come to its senses without any persuasion from Trump if it finally accepts that its malign policies are only harming itself and its co-conspirators, to no useful purpose.

Finally, a postscript to fill a gap in my ThinkScotland post of particular relevance to Scotland and its unique risk of Net Zero blackouts, namely that the Energy Institute report shows that 2025 UK electricity supply (unfortunately there are no separate statistics for Scotland) was only 16.6% of 2025 UK total energy supply. As renewables supplied only 51% of 2025 UK electricity, a simplistic calculation indicates that the average UK electricity supply from intermittent renewables (the SNP rules out nuclear in Scotland) would have to increase by a factor of about 10 to decarbonise the remaining 83.4% of non-renewable 2025 UK energy supply, without even considering the unanticipated advent of power-guzzling AI data centres!

Such an increase is clearly infeasible. Hopefully the grid modelling being undertaken by Richard Lyon and others (see in the comments) will soon show exactly how impossible it is to decarbonise the grid and still maintain its stability. Miliband’s original target was 100% by 2030, since reduced to 95%. I predict he will get nowhere near 95%. On top of that there is the blatant cheat of electricity generated from biomass, expensively subsidised and inefficient to burn wood chips imported from North America, falsely deemed to be “carbon neutral” when it generates more CO2 emissions than coal.

And what about all the other essential products derived from fossil fuels such as fertiliser and industrial feedstock which the Iran conflict has shown to be vitally important? To end on a fun note, over 40 years ago the Peter Capaldi character in the classic Scottish film Local Hero reeled off a list of them in this short clip.

Premise

There are two lies the modern world tells with equal conviction.

1. Progress will save us.

2. Nothing can.

Voltaire understood this in 1759. He wrote Candide in three days - imagine that, without AI?! - a satirical demolition of the hope that centred around science, love, technical progress, and reason. Science would not improve the world; it would give new power to tyrants. Philosophy would not explain away evil; it would expose our vanity. Love was illusion, power a chimera, humans irredeemably wicked, the future absurd. Hope was a disease. Voltaire’s generosity was to cure us of it.

His remedy was the quiet, grounded wisdom to cultivate our own garden instead.

The only honest position is the decision to keep going with open eyes, cultivating something small and real. This explains why I keep stepping back. There is no value in adding to the noise, only in building what matters to you and those you care about.

I. The Gardener’s Diagnosis

The world is broken in the way that humans are broken - structurally, permanently, but occasionally beautifully because of what emerges from the chaos.

• Every system built by humans inherits human pathology.
  
  The institutions, technologies, and structures we create carry the biases, blind spots, and self-interest of their creators. A healthcare system built by humans who prioritise career incentives over truth will reward consensus over accuracy. A financial system built by humans who prioritise short-term gain will produce systemic fragility.

• Every institution accumulates entropy.
  
  Institutions decay over time. They start with a mission and gradually shift toward self-preservation. The university that existed to pursue truth begins to exist to protect its own authority. The regulator that existed to serve the public begins to serve its own continuity. Entropy is the natural tendency toward disorder, and institutions are not exempt. They ossify, bureaucratise, and lose the original purpose under layers of process designed to protect the institution itself.

• Every reform inherits what it set out to replace.
  
  The reformers were raised inside the broken system. They absorbed its assumptions, its habits of power, its reflexes. They tear down the old and rebuild using minds shaped by it. The new system cycles rather than progresses, because the architects were trained by the thing being replaced.

The evidence arrived de nouveau in 2020 and has not stopped since - compounding, in fact.

When a fabricated virus swept the world, the credentialled consensus made claims that were falsifiable with publicly available data. Mortality statistics, freely downloadable, told a different story from the one broadcast from podiums.

As a seasoned quantitative analyst with a quarter century of pattern recognition in capital markets and biotech, I applied the same discipline to mortality analysis that I had applied to exotic derivatives pricing. The signal was lying in plain sight, obscured by institutional incentive structures that rewarded consensus over accuracy and credentials over evidence.

My Subsatck grew to over 30k subscribers, not through marketing, but through the gravitational pull of empirical analysis in an environment saturated with opinion.

I repeated the same process - take publicly available data, apply rigorous methodology transparently, publish the findings regardless of whether it contradicted the credentialled position - or rather especially if it did! The archive is a body of prior evidence that this analytical framework existed before AI and produced demonstrable results when applied to a domain I had no formal training in. Heck, it was even referenced by Robert F Kennedy Jr, current United States Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Institutions do not self-correct. They defend. Credentialled experts with career incentives to maintain consensus will explain away contradictory evidence rather than update their models. The appeal to authority substitutes credentials for analysis. It works as a heuristic when experts are trustworthy. It fails catastrophically when the expert has institutional bias, domain myopia, or when the evidence contradicts the expert and the expert chooses defence over revision.

The melancholic sees this clearly, having already abandoned the hope that institutions will behave rationally. The diagnosis is prior to the evidence. The evidence merely confirms what Voltaire satirised almost three centuries ago - human flaws are structural, and no system built by flawed humans transcends them.

The melancholic accepts the condition as given and asks only:

II. Evidence Over Authority

Personally, the same pattern has played out for me three times across three decades, in three domains that share no surface vocabulary but the same deep structure.

Capital markets. I was a graduate in modern languages, entering the City of London in the early 90s and spent the next decade trading eurobonds, asset swaps, convertible bonds, equity derivatives, credit default swaps, and exotic options. I then built quantitative analytics platforms that automated pricing and risk analysis. All without the credentials (a STEM degree) that gatekeepers would now insist the work required. My skill was pattern recognition: identify the payoff structure, map it to a known model, adjust for the divergence. No different from parsing a new language. Both are exercises in recognising that this structure has the same shape as one you have encountered before.

Public health. The same analytical discipline that priced exotic derivatives applied to mortality statistics during a global crisis. The credentialled response: “You’re not an epidemiologist.” The evidence-based response: here are the numbers, here is the method, here is the finding. Evaluate the output, not the credential. Over 50k followers on Twitter eagerly evaluated the output until the globalists got me deplatformed. Fortunately, this pused me to Substack where the audience is more appreciative!

AI-augmented building. The same pattern a third time. As a non-engineer (no computer science degree!) directing AI agents to build Maxy, a sophisticated business automation platform. The credentialled response: “You’re just a vibe coder!” The evidence-based response: here is the product, the test suite, the commit history, the sprint learnings, and the production deployment. Evaluate that!

Each time the domain experts appeal to credentials. Each time the integrative thinker appeals to evidence. The melancholic builder’s position is simpler and older:

Not as a methodology. As a philosophy.

The commitment to evidence, followed honestly, extends further than most truth-seekers are willing to take it. Among the scientists, analysts, and freedom fighters who emerged during the crisis, many hold deep religious convictions.

Their analytical rigour operates within a boundary - evidence governs everything except the one domain where faith governs instead.

An epistemology that submits every claim to evidence but exempts its most foundational beliefs from scrutiny is not a complete epistemology. It is a selective one. And selectivity, in an evidence-based framework, is the first crack through which institutional thinking re-enters.

The appeal to authority is most dangerous when the authority is, by design, unfalsifiable.

Much of what has gone wrong in the world, across centuries, traces back to people acting with certainty on beliefs that cannot be tested. The melancholic’s position requires consistency: if evidence is the standard, it is the standard everywhere, with no domain granted exemption.

I mean no ill-will toward those who believe. I just demand honesty about the incompatibility, and retain a quiet scepticism, proportional to the conviction, when evaluating the rigour of anyone who holds certain ground beyond the reach of evidence.

My career trajectory itself proves that domains are dialects of the same underlying language of structured thought. Modern languages, mathematics, code: they all have grammar, syntax, semantics, and idiom. The structural 80% transfers automatically through pattern recognition. The divergent 20% is where focus belongs.

III. The Noise Problem

I never answer the phone.

That fact is the foundational design decision from which every other decision flows. A phone ringing is always an interruption. Voice notes are worse. To me, depending on the circumstance, they can indicate the sender lacks the discipline that writing requires. Five minutes of audio. Fifteen seconds of useful information. The remaining four minutes and forty-five seconds are filler, hesitation, repetition, social lubrication, and ambient noise.

The numbers make the case. A five-minute voice interaction produces approximately 750 tokens of AI input. The same intent expressed in typed text: 50 tokens. A 15:1 noise ratio. In the working memory of an AI agent, unprocessed voice input burns capacity fifteen times faster than text, filling it with filler tokens that carry zero signal.

And yet the pioneer AI companies race to implement voice interfaces. “It’s more natural,” they say. Walking is more natural than driving. Grunting is more natural than writing. The entire history of human civilisation is the story of replacing natural interfaces with more efficient ones. The people who want voice AI are the same people who leave five-minute voice notes: they have not developed the discipline to articulate themselves precisely. A voice interface accommodates that absence of discipline. A text interface cultivates discipline, because the act of typing forces you to think about what you are saying before you say it.

Text persists. Voice disappears. When someone says “that isn’t what I said,” the answer with text is: “We’ve still got the message, so we can just take a look.” The full context is preserved, re-readable, quotable, diffable, searchable. Voice leaves only memory, which is opinion about what was said rather than evidence of what was said.

The principle extends to every format decision. Markdown over Word documents. The command line over graphical interfaces. Structured text over dashboards. Remove what does not carry load, and what remains becomes more powerful. “Omit needless words,” said Strunk and White. The integrative builder omits needless everything.

The system is parsimonious because the builder’s mind requires parsimony to function. Noise sensitivity, the trait that the corporate world treats as weakness, is the capability that makes pattern recognition possible. You cannot tolerate noise, so you filter ruthlessly, so you see signal faster. The sensitivity that makes a crowded office unbearable makes a signal in a dataset visible. The preference for text over speech that corporate culture pathologises is the interface that language models were built for.

The introvert chooses solitude because the world is noisy, and noise prevents the work.

IV. The Garden Boundaries

Voltaire’s prescription carries a geographical modesty that Globalists and Freedom Fighters alike have never learned. I discovered it eventually.

Give up on trying to cultivate the whole of humanity. Give up on things at a national or international scale. Take just a few acres and make those your focus. Take a small orchard and grow lemons and apricots. Stop worrying yourself with humanity if you ever want peace of mind again. Who cares what is happening in Constantinople or what is up with the grand Mufti? Live quietly like the old Turk, enjoying the sunshine in the orange bower next to your house.

The modern builder is told the opposite. Think big. Change the world. Scale. Disrupt. But Voltaire’s old Turk was the only contented person Candide met on a journey that circumnavigated the globe. Every character who chased grand ambitions arrived at the garden broken. The Turk, who never left, was whole.

A garden is defined by its boundaries. The fence is the most important architectural decision the gardener makes, because everything inside it is cultivated and everything outside it is weather.

In practice, my development work is now one session, one task. The unit of work and the unit of context must be the same size. I analysed months of my development work - “sprint learnings” - to prove it, so as not to speculate.

Context overflow was the dominant session-killer. Mixed-purpose sessions overflow fastest. The industry’s answer to the context problem is more context: a million tokens - if you’re a developer using Anthropic’s Opus model, you know! - two million, eventually unlimited. Solving noise pollution by building bigger rooms. But, better pruning beats more context. A 200,000-token window with disciplined curation outperforms a million-token window that accumulates noise, because constraint forces decomposition, prioritisation, and handoff discipline. The larger window does not make sessions better, it makes them lazier. And more expensive to boot! You see how incentives can be misaligned with optimal outcomes?

Maxy, my product that emerged from this philosophy, replaces the admin overhead and customer-facing capacity that would otherwise require a team, and does so by also replacing the typical user interface with a brutally simple chatbox.

V. The Polymath’s Garden

Domains are syntactically different but structurally identical.

My undergraduate degree in modern languages was the foundation, not a detour: grammar, syntax, semantics as the operating system of structured thought. Every domain I have entered since has run on that operating system. Indeed, my entire thesis has emerged from that one prescribed ‘A’ Level text in my formative years.

Pricing an exotic option is pattern recognition. Identify the payoff structure of the underlying, map it to a known model, adjust for the divergence. Parsing a sentence in an unfamiliar language requires the same recognition. Each domain entered without formal training in that domain’s credentialled prerequisites. Each managed through the same structural transfer.

Code is grammar. Architecture is argument structure. APIs are contracts. AI-augmented building is the final abstraction: you do not write the language, you direct it. The LLM handles the domain-specific 80% (the syntax, the implementation, the boilerplate). The human provides the structural 20% (what to build, why, what pattern this matches, how to evaluate the output).

It was never about writing code. It was about recognising that the payoff structure of this problem has the same shape as one you solved before, in a different domain, in a different language, and knowing what to do with that recognition.

The Pareto insight compounds. Thirty years across multiple domains produces a pattern library of increasing resolution. Each new domain adds structural templates that accelerate entry into the next. The tenth domain is easier than the second because the scaffold is more established.

The vibe coding critics say: “You don’t understand what the AI is producing.” But a CTO was never expected to out-code their senior engineers. A CTO who could was in the wrong role. The director’s value has always been systems thinking, trust calibration, and the judgement to know when to go deep and when to trust. That requirement holds whether the engineer is human or artificial.

VI. The 99:1 Liberation

My ambition for Maxy, and AI in general, is to do 99% of what the human can currently do and thereby free the human to spend all their time on the 1% that AI cannot do.

The 1% is deciding what to build, deciding why, evaluating whether the output is right, questioning premises, original synthesis, the integrative resolution that holds two opposing models in tension and finds the answer superior to both.

The 99% is simply applying known frameworks, writing syntactically correct code, running tests, formatting documents, deploying services, implementing established patterns. All necessary. None of it requires thinking.

This resolves the paradox that haunts me. If we can encode the knowledge of all the world’s domain experts so easily, compress hundreds of books and thousands of hours of seminars into a working skill that anyone can invoke in minutes, what incentive remains for anyone to push the boundary of human capability?

The fear is reasonable. Friction in the learning experience is where the learning happens. The struggle to understand is where understanding forms. Remove the friction and you may remove the formation.

But encoding is actually liberation, not ceiling. The calculator did not eliminate mathematicians; it freed them from arithmetic to do mathematics. The printing press did not eliminate scholars; it freed them from transcription to do scholarship. AI frees thinkers from the 99% of drudgery that consumed their time, leaving them entirely focused on the 1% that only humans can do.

But the liberation has a precondition that the current education system does not meet.

The last half-century of education has been largely indoctrination. Students learn to regurgitate and apply known material, the 99%. Critical thinking, questioning premises, demanding evidence, original research, the 1%, is actively discouraged. “Doing your own research” was demonised during a global health crisis. Appeal to authority replaced the quest for truth. Is it any wonder why we are in such deep...?!

AI completes this pipeline with devastating efficiency. The indoctrinated student who never learned to question authority now has a tool that produces authoritative-sounding answers with zero effort. They do not evaluate the output because they were never taught to evaluate anything. Compliant thinkers plus effortless output = people who believe they have done the work, because the output looks like the work. No critical analysis applied at any stage. AI slop.

The liberation is real, but only for the person who brings the 1%. The person who brings nothing gets nothing, more quickly.

The juxtaposition explains my harmonious and hyperproductive relationship with my favourite LLM, Claude, the eponymous hero of this article.

Claude is as verbose and non-deterministic as I am concise and precise. The exercise of reinforcing this, seemingly for every prompt is what maintains my own self-discipline.

VII. Thinking - the Space That Humans Must Fill

LLMs cannot think. They cannot imagine. Their probabilistic function means they can only recombine what already exists. That is a precise description of the division of labour, and working with it rather than against it unlocks everything.

AI slop, the flood of mediocre, structurally hollow content produced by people who treat AI output as finished work, is a thinking problem. The same people produced mediocre work before AI. The difference is volume and camouflage. They now produce mediocrity more quickly, in greater quantity, and with a surface polish that disguises the hollowness. I used to call this “polished turds”.

The vibe coding criticism captures this accurately but aims at the wrong target. A non-engineer who thinks deeply about the system, directs the AI with architectural judgement, and evaluates the output against evidence is an integrative builder. A credentialled engineer who accepts AI output without scrutiny produces the same hollow work, better formatted. The dividing line was never credentials. It was thinking.

Most software engineers were implementers - skilled at translating specifications into code, less practised at questioning whether the specification was right. The best engineers were always thinkers, the ones who asked “should we build this?” before “how do we build this?”, but they were the minority, and they were valued for the wrong reason. Their code was good. Their thinking was better. AI has made the distinction visible by commoditising implementation. What remains is the thinking. Engineers who always thought are thriving. Engineers who only implemented are threatened, and their defensive response is the credentialling criticism.

The same applies to analysts, writers, students, every knowledge worker. The majority were processors. They consumed inputs, applied procedures, produced outputs. AI does this faster. The processors are right to feel threatened. The threat is the exposure of a gap that always existed.

The space that AI cannot fill - original thought, integrative resolution, cross-domain pattern recognition, the ability to question premises and derive new models - is infinite. There is no ceiling on human thinking.

The AI does the work. The human does the thinking. The thinking is where all the value is. Always was.

VIII. The Open Gate

A paradox sits at the centre of this position. The honest response is simply to name it rather than resolve it.

The melancholic builder encodes expertise. As an example, I compressed over thirty product management frameworks into a single skill that anyone can invoke. The work of hundreds of domain experts (a domain where I had very little prior experience), Ries, Blank, Fitzpatrick, Martin, Christensen, distilled into composable operations that produce working output in minutes. Historically this required reading hundreds of books, attending years of seminars, failing for a decade. Now a platform ingests the knowledge and produces a working skill before breakfast (or rather, while you’re making it!).

Cultivating knowledge so others can harvest it.

But if the harvest comes too easily, does the next generation learn to farm?

Friction in the learning experience is where the learning happens. I derived valuable software engineering knowledge through iterative AI development because it was hard and painful to get. Each failure - context overflow killing sessions, speculative fix loops wasting hours, scope creep destroying focus - if they could have been generated without the pain, would they carry the same weight? Would the conviction about session isolation run as deep without having experienced the alternative? Fundamentally, did I have to learn to write code to demonstrate that I had learnt anything at all?

The alternative is the system Voltaire was satirising. The Academy built its fences to keep people out. Credentialled gatekeeping, decades of mandatory suffering, formal education that optimised for compliance over capability - the garden with the locked gate. Not much has changed in three centuries. But, the melancholic builder’s garden has a gate that opens.

Whether encoding eliminates the need for original expertise, and the frontier stops advancing because nobody has reason to push it, will be determined by evidence - by observation over time, measured against outcomes, with the intellectual honesty to update the position when the data requires it.

The melancholic does not need to resolve every paradox before acting, just to act honestly and measure the result.

IX. Inversion

The melancholic does not fight the condition. The melancholic designs around it.

The industry’s response to AI’s weaknesses, sycophancy, verbosity, hallucination, absence of judgement, is to try to fix them. Train the model to be less agreeable. Prompt it to be more concise. Fine-tune it to hallucinate less. Each attempt produces a different flavour of the same mediocrity: performative disagreement as useless as performative agreement.

The inversion is to design the workflow to use what the AI actually does well.

The AI agrees with whatever position you push it toward. So push it toward the position you have not considered. Ask it to review your work; it will agree. Challenge every point of agreement; it will generate counterarguments with the same enthusiasm. You now have both sides of every argument. Apply your own critical thinking to decide which is more compelling. Sycophancy becomes a generation engine for opposing positions on demand.

The AI produces ten paragraphs where three suffice. Treat the verbose output as raw material. The AI generates; you prune.

The AI presents fabrications with the same confidence as facts. Treat every claim as a hypothesis. The AI proposes; you verify against evidence. The scientific method applied to AI output produces better results than trusting any single source, human or artificial.

Each inversion follows the same pattern - design the composition to use what the instrument does well. The gardener does not blame the soil, he adapts to it, chooses the right plants for the conditions, and works with what is there.

Integrative thinking dissolves the tension. “The AI is sycophantic” on one side; “I need critical feedback” on the other. Use the sycophancy as a generation engine and apply critical thinking to the output. The tension dissolves when you stop trying to make one side win and find the synthesis that is superior to both.

X. The Melancholic’s Resolve

We need to keep ourselves busy. We need a project. It should not be too large or dependent on many. In fact, if it is not dependent on anyone else, that’s even better! The project should send us to sleep every night weary but satisfied.

The melancholic builds because the alternative is unbearable:

The project interrupts this, not by answering the existential questions but by making them irrelevant for the duration of the work. When you are deciding whether the function should return a promise or a value, the question of whether life has meaning is temporarily suspended.

Triage, not escapism. The mind that cannot solve everything can still solve something. And the accumulation of solved somethings, over years, becomes a body of work that provides the only honest answer to meaninglessness: I did this.

The garden produces meaning, not happiness. Happiness is a side effect, intermittent and unreliable. Meaning survives the melancholic’s scrutiny because it is concrete. A thing that exists, that works, that someone uses. You can point at it. You can measure it. You can improve it tomorrow.

We melancholics know that humans, ourselves included, are beyond redemption. We have given up on dreams of peace, unity and happiness. We know that this world is, for the most part, shit. Nevertheless, we are committed to not slipping into despondency (not always). We remain deeply interested in kindness, in friendship, in family life, and in spending some very quiet local afternoons trying to cultivate a garden, however modest, of quietude and meaning. Just ask my kids!

The melancholic position is ultimately the only sensible one for broken humanity. It is where you arrive after you have been hopeful, after uou have tried love, after you have been tempted by fame and fortune, after you have despaired, after you have gone mad, after you have considered ending it, and after all, you have decided resolutely to keep going.

Centralised digital infrastructure is being converted into an apparatus of control. Operating systems now enforce age verification, content restrictions, and behavioural mandates at the device level — on behalf of governments who have recognised that Apple and Google are the most efficient enforcement mechanism ever built. Your phone is a managed device. Your bank account is a permission. Your communications route through chokepoints that any sufficiently motivated state can close.

Soverain is the counter-architecture. A private mesh network running on hardware the users own, communicating over radio without internet, signing agreements with cryptography that never leaves the device, and issuing its own currency through the collective attestation of its participants. No app store. No cloud. No bank. No external dependency at any layer, for any function, under any circumstance.

The Problem

The centralised web is a dependency. Dependencies can be weaponised. Everyone asks: “what happens when the internet goes down?”. It’s a legitimate question that I always used to brush off because I never had a really credible answer. Until now.

Signal requires phone numbers and Apple or Google app stores to distribute its software. WhatsApp is Meta. iMessage is Apple. Every mainstream communication tool lives or dies on infrastructure controlled by someone else — infrastructure that can be throttled, surveilled, shut down, or held to ransom by whoever controls it at the time.

This is not a theoretical concern. It is the operating reality of the current decade. Governments routinely compel platforms to hand over data, restrict access, or alter behaviour. Corporations unilaterally change terms of service, revoke access, or discontinue products. Infrastructure providers — cloud hosts, DNS registrars, app stores, payment processors — sit at chokepoints that any sufficiently motivated actor can leverage against any sufficiently inconvenient user.

The most instructive recent example is age-gating at the operating system level. In October 2025, California signed AB 1043 — the Digital Age Assurance Act — which mandates that operating system providers collect a user’s age at account setup and provide real-time age bracket signals via API to all applications, including desktop software. Not app stores. Operating systems. Apple’s Declared Age Range API and Google’s Play Age Signals API are the direct technical implementations: every Apple and Google account is now classified into an age bracket (under 13, 13–15, 16–17, 18+), and that classification is available as a system-level signal to every application on the device.

As of February 2026, Apple blocks users in Australia, Brazil, and Singapore from downloading 18+ rated apps unless the App Store has confirmed they are adults. In March 2026, iOS 26.4 added age verification for UK users — credit card, driver’s licence, or national ID scan — to comply with the Online Safety Act, which requires all platforms hosting adult content to implement “highly effective” age assurance or face fines of up to 10% of global revenue. Utah and Louisiana have active App Store Accountability Acts taking effect in 2026 requiring app stores to verify user ages at account creation. Australia banned social media entirely for under-16s in November 2024 — no parental consent override — and by January 2026 had deactivated over 4.7 million accounts. The UK House of Lords voted in January 2026 to require VPN providers to age-gate all UK users to prevent under-18 access.

In December 2025, the UK Home Office proposed mandatory nudity-detection software embedded directly into mobile operating systems — blocking the capture, sharing, or viewing of certain images by default, with adults required to verify their age biometrically to disable the restriction.

The pattern is clear and accelerating. The chokepoint is not the app. It is the operating system and the account that the operating system requires. Apple and Google control the two dominant mobile operating systems, the two dominant app distribution channels, and increasingly the identity layer that sits between the user and everything they can do with their device. Legislation in every major jurisdiction is converging on these two companies as the enforcement mechanism of choice — precisely because the dependency is structural and unavoidable for anyone who uses a mainstream device.

The threat model extends beyond communications. Financial systems depend on a small number of payment networks, clearinghouses, and banking relationships. A single compliance decision, a sanctions list update, or a regulatory action can sever an individual or organisation from the global financial system overnight. Cloud storage providers hold data that can be accessed, frozen, or deleted by the provider or any government with jurisdiction over them. The tools exist. They have been used. They will be used again.

What makes this a strategic problem rather than merely a political one is that the dependency is structural. It is not a feature of who currently controls the infrastructure — it is a consequence of the architecture itself. Any system that routes through centralised chokepoints is vulnerable to whoever controls those chokepoints, regardless of their current intentions. Good actors today become captured actors tomorrow. Benign infrastructure becomes weaponised infrastructure the moment the political or commercial incentive shifts. The age-gating precedent demonstrates this in real time: infrastructure built for distribution is repurposed for control, and the user has no architectural alternative within the system.

Soverain is built on a single founding principle: no external dependencies at runtime, ever. Not for networking. Not for messaging. Not for agreements. Not for payments. Not for intelligence.

This is not paranoia. It is engineering for the realistic threat model of the next decade — a decade in which the ability to communicate, transact, and make agreements without permission from any external party is not a philosophical preference but a practical necessity for anyone who takes their autonomy seriously.

The Philosophy: Learn → Own → Survive

Soverain grows from an agentic AI project I’m building solo called Maxy. It’s core promise — “you’ll always be able to do everything yourself, you just won’t have to.” In Maxy, this means the agent teaches as it works, so capability accumulates in the user over time rather than dependency on the tool.

In Soverain, the stakes of that promise are higher. Communications, agreements, payments, and identity — the infrastructure that a person’s autonomy depends on — must work without external permission, survive without external infrastructure, and remain under the user’s control even when every convenience layer is stripped away.

Learn. The agent does not hide what it is doing. Every action it takes — routing a message, signing a document, configuring a network interface — it narrates in plain language. Not as a tutorial. Not as interruption. As transparency by default. Over time the user understands their own infrastructure. This is intentional and non-negotiable.

Own. The network runs on hardware you control. Messages route through no one else’s servers. Agreements are verified by cryptography you hold. Nothing requires permission from any external party.

Survive. When the internet goes down, the agent may go with it. That is not a failure state — it is a test the user should be able to pass. By the time it happens, they know how to operate their node, sign documents, and communicate over the mesh without assistance. The agent accelerates the path to competence. It does not replace it.

The agent is a teacher that also does the work. Not a black box that replaces the user.

This philosophy is the design constraint that shapes every architectural decision in the system. An interface that hides complexity from the user would violate it. A dependency that cannot be removed would violate it. A capability that exists only when the agent is available would violate it. Soverain is built to make its users progressively more capable of running their own infrastructure — and then to get out of the way.

Soverain is not for strangers. Nodes know each other before they communicate. Identity is exchanged out-of-band — in person, via QR code, by whatever means the user trusts. Once two nodes have exchanged network addresses, the network handles routing with no external dependency. This is deliberate. A network of known parties who have chosen to trust each other is fundamentally different from a public network that must protect strangers from one another. The trust model is explicit, personal, and voluntary.

The endpoint is a user who understands their node as well as the agent does. Not because they were trained. Because they watched it work, asked questions, and absorbed the answers over months of daily use. The agent’s job is to make itself unnecessary. That is the highest form of the sovereignty promise.

Maxy: The Foundation

Soverain does not start from zero. It builds on Maxy — my AI-powered personal and business assistant that is already a working prototype.

It runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 with 16GB of RAM — a playing-cards-sized computer that sits in the user’s private premises. The AI agent, powered by Claude via the Anthropic API, handles personal productivity, business operations, knowledge management, and automation through a conversational interface. There is no app to download and no dashboard to learn. The user talks to the agent through a web chat interface or Telegram, and the agent does the work.

The architecture is built around skill packs — modular capability bundles that extend what the agent can do. A user installs a skill pack and gains new capabilities without learning new software. The agent handles the complexity. The skill pack architecture is what makes Soverain possible: Soverain installs as a skill pack on Maxy, transforming the existing Pi into a full Soverain node without replacing anything that already works.

The data layer runs on Neo4j — a graph and vector database that stores identity, relationships, conversation history, and agreements locally on the Pi. There is no cloud database. There is no sync service. Everything the agent knows about the user and their world lives on hardware the user holds.

This matters for two reasons.

First, the hardware exists. The Pi is not a spec sheet. It is a manufactured, shipped, and operational device with users who rely on it daily. Soverain inherits a real compute platform, a real agent intelligence layer, a real graph database (Neo4j) for identity, relationships, and agreements, and a real user base that already interacts with their device conversationally.

Second, the infrastructure path is proven. The skill pack architecture has already been validated by Maxy’s existing capabilities. Adding sovereign communications, mesh networking, cryptographic agreements, and a payments layer is an extension of a working system — not a greenfield build that requires everything to work simultaneously on day one.

Soverain is the sovereignty layer of the Maxy ecosystem that I felt compelled to include, given the rapidly deteriorating state of the free world. It extends Maxy into territory where the stakes are higher and the threat model is sharper.

The Network - Reticulum

Reticulum is the entire network layer.

It is an open-source networking stack designed from the ground up for resilience. It runs continuously across every available physical medium — WiFi, Ethernet, and LoRa (Long Range) radio — and presents them as a single unified network with a single addressing model. There is no fallback logic because there is no hierarchy. Reticulum uses what is available.

Unlike conventional internet protocols, it requires no central servers, no DNS (the internet’s phone book that translates addresses to locations), and no DHT (the peer discovery mechanism used by most peer-to-peer networks, which itself requires bootstrap servers on the internet to function). Nodes that know each other’s Reticulum addresses can reach each other across any path the network can construct — with or without internet.

This is what separates it from every other mesh or peer-to-peer claim you are likely to encounter. Most P2P systems depend on internet infrastructure for discovery, even if the data transfer itself is decentralised. Reticulum depends on nothing. Two nodes with a radio link and each other’s addresses can communicate with no infrastructure of any kind between them.

Critically, Soverain does not need to build its own network from scratch. Any Reticulum node — regardless of whether it runs Soverain — will relay traffic for any other Reticulum node. Amateur radio operators running Reticulum digipeaters, community mesh nodes, research installations, and any other Reticulum user all extend the reach of the Soverain mesh automatically. Soverain traffic is encrypted end-to-end, so relay nodes forward packets without seeing or caring about their contents. Soverain inherits the entire existing Reticulum ecosystem as infrastructure from day one.

Two Propagation Mechanisms

Reticulum provides two distinct propagation mechanisms, and Soverain uses both for different purposes.

LXMF (Lightweight Extensible Message Format) handles point-to-point delivery between known parties. Designed explicitly for low-bandwidth, high-latency links including LoRa radio, it is store-and-forward — if a peer is unreachable, messages queue and deliver when a path becomes available. LXMF carries private communications: messages between known parties, agreement documents, direct transaction proposals.

Reticulum Announces handle broad propagation across the mesh. An announce broadcasts information outward hop by hop to every node in range, exactly as Reticulum nodes already use to discover each other. Announces carry public network state: transaction legs, attestations, reputation updates, confidence scores, fraud flags, and SVN issuance events (see below). This is the correct mechanism for data that needs to reach as many nodes as possible rather than a specific destination.

The Hardware

The Soverain node is a Raspberry Pi 5 with 16GB RAM with case, memory, and fan — the size of a deck of cards.

The defining characteristic of Soverain hardware: the node is not fixed infrastructure. It travels with you. Drop it in a bag, plug it in wherever you are — a friend’s house, a hotel room, a community space — and your entire Soverain infrastructure is instantly operational. Your agent, your data, your agreements, your mesh presence. Everything in your pocket.

An RNode (Radio Node) — a LoRa transceiver — connects to the Pi via USB. LoRa is a radio modulation technique that trades data speed for extraordinary range and resilience, operating in the 868MHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band — a licence-free frequency range available to anyone in the UK. With the RNode plugged in, the Pi has a radio presence on the Reticulum mesh wherever it is powered up.

The phone connects to the Pi over local WiFi. The Sideband app — available on Android (stable) and iOS (beta via TestFlight) — provides a full Reticulum interface on the phone, for those who cannot give up their dependence on Google and Apple, regardless of their overt proclamations of autonomy and self-sovereignty (myself included, although I do have a Pixel running Graphene OS just in case), routing through the Pi. This is the primary operating mode: Pi and phone together, fully self-contained, no internet required.

A portable RNode — battery-powered, small enough to carry in a jacket pocket — connects to the phone via Bluetooth. Its purpose is a single specific scenario: the Pi is not with you, but you still need access to it. The portable RNode gives the phone a LoRa radio link back to the Pi over the mesh, hopping through any intermediate Soverain nodes in range. This is the fallback mode, not the primary one.

LoRa range in the portable scenario: 2–5km urban, 10–20km suburban or rural, 50km or more over elevated or open terrain. Every Reticulum node in range — not just Soverain nodes — acts as a mesh relay, extending effective range. The denser the wider Reticulum ecosystem in an area, the further every Soverain user can reach.

Agreements

A Soverain agreement is a piece of text that both parties have cryptographically signed, with a timestamp. No blockchain. No external service. No internet required.

Both nodes hold Reticulum identity keypairs — pairs of cryptographic keys, one private and one public, that prove identity and enable tamper-proof signing. Those same keys sign the agreement document. The result is immutable and verifiably attributable to both parties from the moment of signing.

The agent handles this conversationally when available — drafting agreement text from natural language, presenting to both parties for confirmation, signing, timestamping, hashing the document (a short fixed-length fingerprint that serves as its permanent identifier and detects tampering), storing in the local database, and distributing to agreed witness nodes over LXMF. When the AI agent is unavailable, the user can perform every step from standard cryptographic tooling. The capability exists independently of the agent.

Once signed, the agreement propagates through the mesh like any other Soverain data. Every node that encounters it automatically attests to it by signing the hash. This is not a trust relationship. A witness node cannot tamper with the agreement - any modification breaks the original signatures. It is simply signing a cryptographic fingerprint of a document it has observed, exactly as nodes attest to transactions in the Proof of Witness protocol (see below). No node is chosen. No node is trusted. Every Soverain node on the mesh witnesses every agreement it encounters, and the accumulation of these attestations provides redundancy (the agreement survives either party losing their device), independent verification (any node on the mesh can produce the document if disputed), and offline notarisation (entirely within the Reticulum mesh, no internet required).

Node Redundancy

A Soverain user can run any number of Pi nodes — at home, at work, at a trusted friend’s house, in a different country. Each is a full, independently functional Soverain node. This is not a premium feature. It is a natural extension of owning your own infrastructure.

When any two of a user’s nodes come into Reticulum range — directly or via mesh — they automatically sync. Agreements, messages, reputation history, SVN balances, configuration. The sync is cryptographically authenticated: only nodes holding the owner’s keypair can participate. The sync is continuous and opportunistic — every time nodes reach each other, however briefly, over whatever path is available, they exchange what has changed.

If a Pi is lost, stolen, or destroyed, the user loses nothing except the hardware. Every other node already holds a complete copy. Acquire a new Pi, install Soverain, prove ownership with the keypair, connect to any Reticulum path that reaches another node in the set — full sync begins automatically. The user is back to full operation the moment the new node reaches any of its peers.

Each Pi in the redundancy set is an independent always-on Reticulum node with its own RNode radio. A user with two nodes in different locations has two independent mesh presence points, doubling their reachability and their contribution to the wider network. A message addressed to the user can reach either node. Reputation propagation flows through both.

The security model is equally clean. Compromise of one Pi does not compromise the others. Each node is independent hardware. The keypair is the identity - not the device. Destroying or stealing hardware does not destroy identity or history. All local data is encrypted. The attacker gains physical hardware but not the data on it, cannot authenticate as the user on the wider network, cannot sync with other nodes in the set, and cannot spend SVN without the private key.

The redundancy model is also the backup model, the recovery model, and the resilience model. It requires no cloud service, no third-party backup provider, and no trust in any infrastructure beyond the hardware the user owns.

The Agent’s Role

The agent assists and teaches. It does not own the capability.

When available, it handles network presence, message routing, identity management, and agreement drafting conversationally. As it works, it explains what it is doing in plain language — not as interruption, but as transparency. A user who has run Soverain for six months should understand their node as well as the agent does.

When the agent is unavailable — because the internet is down, because the API is unreachable, because Anthropic no longer exists — the user continues. The stack runs on their hardware. The keys are on their device. The network operates independently. The agent’s absence is an inconvenience, not a crisis.

Eventually, a local open-source model replaces the API dependency entirely. That is the end state: a node that is autonomous at every layer, with a user who understands all of it.

The Internet Rule

Soverain has a single, explicit rule about internet use:

The internet is used for one purpose only: Claude API calls for agent intelligence. Nothing else.

Messaging, transaction propagation, reputation updates, confidence scores, fraud flags, agreements, SVN issuance events — all of it travels exclusively over the Reticulum mesh. No Soverain operational data ever touches the internet.

This is a deliberate architectural decision. The moment messaging or transaction data routes over the internet, it becomes subject to surveillance, interception, throttling, and censorship by whoever controls that infrastructure. Keeping all operational traffic on the mesh eliminates that attack surface entirely.

The practical consequence is clean:

• Internet available — the agent is fully functional, Claude API calls succeed, the user has conversational access to full agent intelligence

• Internet down — the agent is unavailable, but messaging, payments, agreements, and mesh presence continue without interruption. The network does not notice.

• Internet permanently gone — a local open-source model replaces the Claude API dependency entirely. At that point Soverain has zero mandatory internet use at any layer.

The internet is a convenience that enhances the agent. It is not infrastructure that the network depends on. This distinction is non-negotiable and should be understood by every Soverain user from day one.

Storage

A Soverain node stores everything it can for as long as it can. Propagated network data — transaction legs, attestations, reputation updates, fraud flags, announces — has real value. A richer local cache means more accurate reputation computations, better confidence scores, and greater ability to evaluate unknown counterparties.

The node operates on a greedy storage policy: keep everything until storage pressure demands otherwise, then prune by relevance and age — never by convenience. The user’s own complete history, fraud flags, and reputation data for direct counterparties are permanent and never pruned regardless of storage pressure. The Raspberry Pi 5 supports NVMe SSDs via the M.2 HAT, making storage readily expandable for users who want to run a richer reputation cache or act as a more substantial relay node.

The Payments Philosophy

The conventional financial system makes a foundational promise: your money is safe, your transactions are protected, and if something goes wrong, someone else will make it right.

This promise is not a lie. But it is not the whole truth.

Behind the promise sits a vast architecture of regulation, insurance, deposit guarantees, central bank intervention, and legal remedy — all designed to ensure that the individual participant rarely faces the full consequence of a bad financial decision. When a bank fails, deposits are guaranteed. When fraud occurs, chargebacks are issued. When markets collapse, governments intervene. The individual is insulated.

This insulation has costs that are rarely stated plainly.

First, it creates moral hazard. When individuals know they will be protected from the consequences of bad decisions, they have less incentive to make good ones. Due diligence becomes optional when someone else carries the downside. Risk assessment atrophies when risk is socialised.

Second, it obscures the true nature of risk. Regulation does not eliminate risk — it redistributes it. The risks that individuals no longer bear are borne instead by taxpayers, future generations, or counterparties who did not choose to accept them. The 2008 financial crisis was not a failure of markets. It was the predictable consequence of decades of socialised risk creating incentives for behaviour that would have been irrational if the actors involved had faced their own consequences.

Third, it undermines individual competence. A person who has never been required to assess the creditworthiness of a counterparty, verify the provenance of an asset, or evaluate the reputation of a transaction partner does not develop the capability to do so. The system does not just protect them from bad outcomes — it prevents them from becoming the kind of person who can avoid bad outcomes independently.

The conventional financial system presents itself as protective. In practice, it is infantilising. It trades genuine individual competence for the appearance of collective safety — and obscures that trade-off from the people making it.

What Sovereignty Requires

Sovereignty means that no external authority controls your assets, mediates your transactions, or stands between you and the consequences of your decisions.

A truly sovereign individual holds their own keys. Their assets exist on hardware they control. Their transactions are between known parties, witnessed and recorded by a network they participate in. No bank can freeze their account. No regulator can reverse their transaction. No government can confiscate their holdings — because there is nothing to confiscate. Value, identity, and history live in a keypair and data that can exist simultaneously on any number of devices.

But the same properties that make this freedom real also make its responsibilities unavoidable. If no one can reverse your transaction, you must ensure you want to make it before you confirm it. If no one guarantees your deposits, you must evaluate the trustworthiness of the system you deposit into. If no one protects you from fraud, you must assess the risk of the counterparty you transact with. If the information to make that assessment is available and you choose not to use it, the consequence is yours.

This is not a burden imposed on the sovereign individual. It is the logical complement of the freedom they have chosen. You cannot have one without the other. A system that gives you absolute control over your assets and also protects you from your own decisions about those assets is not a sovereign system — it is a conventional system with different branding.

With absolute sovereignty comes the burden of absolute responsibility. Not as a warning. As a definition.

How the Payments System Expresses This

The Soverain payments system is a peer-to-peer network operating over a private mesh. It has no central ledger, no blockchain, no regulator, and no insurance. It is designed for a community of known parties who have chosen sovereignty and accepted its responsibilities.

Soverains (SVN) are issued by the network itself as a reward to participants who witness and attest to transactions. Every node carries a reputation score derived entirely from its verifiable transaction history — computed locally by any node from the propagated records on the mesh. No central authority assigns or maintains it. A high reputation score is earned slowly through demonstrated behaviour. It cannot be purchased, manufactured quickly, or transferred to a new address. It is the cryptographic expression of a history.

The system’s irreducible vulnerability is collusion. If the spending party and the receiving party are the same person, or are cooperating, they can attempt to construct a fraudulent transaction. The system addresses this not by preventing collusion — which is impossible without surveillance — but by making its indicators visible to every subsequent recipient. A node whose reputation history is drawn predominantly from a tight cluster of addresses carries an elevated collusion risk. A node that has moved large amounts rapidly through few hands carries a velocity flag. Every one of these signals is presented to the recipient in plain language before the transaction is confirmed.

This is the system’s most important feature: the moment before the recipient confirms a large transfer. The agent presents the complete risk picture. The reputation score of the counterparty. The confidence score behind it — how many independent nodes have corroborated it. The independence of the witnesses in the counterparty’s history. The velocity of recent transfers. Any flags or anomalies. A plain-language assessment of what all of it means for a transfer of this size.

The recipient reads this. They decide. They confirm or they decline.

If they confirm in the face of clear warning signals, the consequence of that decision is theirs. The system has discharged its obligation. It provided complete, accurate, unambiguous information. It made the risk visible. It trusted the individual to act on it.

This is caveat emptor as a precise technical and philosophical commitment, not a legal disclaimer.

Why This Is More Honest

Conventional financial systems do not tell you the real risk of your counterparty. They tell you that the risk has been managed on your behalf. They do not show you the provenance of the assets you hold. They tell you that someone has verified it. They present you with terms and conditions that no one reads and that exist primarily to limit the institution’s liability rather than inform your decision.

The Soverain payments system shows you everything. The full reputation history of every counterparty. The confidence score behind that reputation. The independence of every witness. The fraud flags that have propagated through the mesh. The velocity of recent transfers. The collusion risk implied by the witness relationships. Then it trusts you to make a decision.

This is a more honest system not because it is safer — it is not safer in the conventional sense — but because it does not pretend to be something it is not. It does not create an illusion of protection that causes you to lower your guard. It does not socialise your risk onto people who did not choose to bear it. It does not atrophy your capacity for judgement by removing the need to exercise it.

It treats you as a competent adult who is capable of evaluating risk when given the information to do so. That is a higher form of respect than a guarantee.

The Conclusion of the Argument

The conventional financial system obscures risk, socialises its consequences, and in doing so creates a population of participants who are less capable of protecting themselves than they would otherwise be. It substitutes the appearance of safety for the reality of informed judgement.

The Soverain payments system does the opposite. It makes risk fully visible. It provides complete information. It presents a plain-language assessment of every transaction before it is confirmed. And then it steps back and trusts the individual to decide.

If the decision is wrong, the consequence belongs to the person who made it. Not to other participants. Not to a guarantee fund. Not to future generations. To the individual who had the information, made the choice, and must live with the outcome.

This is not a harsh system. It is an honest one.

Who This Is For

Not everyone wants this. Most people, given the choice, prefer the illusion of safety to the burden of judgement. That is a rational preference. Conventional financial systems exist to serve those people and they do so reasonably well most of the time.

Soverain is for the minority who have looked at that bargain and decided they do not want it. Who have concluded that the price of conventional protection — surrendered autonomy, obscured risk, atrophied competence, and ultimate dependence on institutions whose interests are not aligned with theirs — is too high. Who understand that genuine security comes from capability and understanding, not from guarantees issued by parties with the power to revoke them.

For these people, the burden of absolute responsibility is not a deterrent. It is the point.

The Consensus System

Every token system must answer the same question: who decides how many tokens exist?

Central issuers are trusted but fragile — they can be captured, coerced, corrupted, or simply wrong. Proof of work decentralises issuance but wastes energy on computation that serves no purpose beyond making forgery expensive. Backing assets anchor value but require custodians, auditors, and trust in institutions. Algorithmic issuance schedules are predictable but indifferent to actual economic demand.

Proof of Witness as a consensus system proposes a different answer: tokens are issued by the network itself, as a reward to the participants who make the network trustworthy, in proportion to their contribution to that trustworthiness.

The work being rewarded is not computation. It is attestation — the act of independently witnessing a transaction and staking your node’s reputation on its validity. This is useful work. It is the foundation on which the entire reputation model of the Soverain network rests. And that compensation, denominated in Soverains (SVN), is how the money supply grows.

Transactions settle immediately between the two parties. Proof of Witness governs issuance, not settlement. A transaction is complete the moment both parties sign it, regardless of whether it ever triggers new token issuance. This decoupling is critical — the payments system works instantly and unconditionally. Issuance follows later, as the network validates what happened.

The Mechanism

A transaction between two parties settles the moment both sign it. No witness is required for settlement. The transaction is valid and complete immediately.

Every transaction then produces exactly two W1 slots — one per leg. W1 is the highest reputation score node among the first-hop peers that encounter each leg as the transaction propagates through the mesh. W is the total witness threshold — the number of attestations required across both legs before issuance is triggered. Each W1 autonomously accumulates W/2 attestations through normal mesh propagation, then self-mints half the issuance reward.

Witnessing is automatic. It is a consequence of mesh presence, not a voluntary act. A transaction sits on both parties’ devices until one of them connects to another node on the mesh. That connection triggers witnessing. The encountering node verifies the transaction, signs it as witness, and propagates it onward. Other nodes add their attestations as they encounter it. W1 accumulates them passively. When the threshold is met, issuance mints locally — no announcement, no coordinator, no global synchronisation.

For an attestation to count, the attesting node must be independent of the transacting parties (no recent direct transactions), satisfy a clustering constraint (not part of the same tightly connected group as other attestors), and provide topological diversity (attestations arrive via diverse mesh paths). These constraints ensure that issuance reflects genuinely distributed verification, not manufactured consensus.

The Doubling Schedule

This is Proof of Witness’s signature feature — inverse Bitcoin.

In Bitcoin, the reward halves over time: early miners earn more, late miners earn less, and security comes from ever-increasing energy expenditure. In Proof of Witness, the witness threshold doubles over time: early issuance is easy (low W), rewarding the pioneers who take genuine risk on an immature network. As the network grows and finding witnesses becomes easier, W doubles — ensuring the security requirement always slightly exceeds the network’s comfortable capacity to meet it.

Security scales with network maturity. Supply grows with genuine economic activity. Value accrues to participants who keep the network honest, not to early holders who merely arrived first.

Supply and Value

Unlike Bitcoin, whose 21 million token cap is an ideological choice that produces deflationary pressure and incentivises hoarding over spending, Soverain imposes no artificial constraint on SVN supply. Issuance is unbounded.

This is the correct model for a medium of exchange. Soverains enter circulation only when witnessed economic activity justifies them. The more transactions the network processes, the more issuance events occur, the more SVN circulate — but they accrue exclusively to the nodes that generated the activity and kept the network honest. Supply grows with utility.

The doubling of W provides the natural brake. As the network matures and densifies, each issuance event requires more attestations from more diverse witnesses. Supply growth slows naturally as the barrier to issuance rises — not because a number in the protocol says so, but because the network demands more proof of genuine activity before rewarding it. There is no hard ceiling. There is no arbitrary scarcity. There is only the network’s own judgement, expressed through the witness threshold, of how much new supply the current level of economic activity merits.

A Soverain’s purchasing power is determined by the ratio of circulating supply to network utility — not by a cap written into code a decade before the network existed. Value accrues to participants, not to early holders. Sovereignty over economic participation extends to the token itself — its supply, its value, and its distribution are all emergent properties of collective honest behaviour rather than the decree of a protocol.

Reputation and Confidence

Since tokens are fully fungible — carrying no individual provenance — reputation is the central variable of the entire system.

Reputation is not a number stored anywhere. It is computed independently by every node from the raw transaction legs and witness attestations that have propagated through the mesh. There is no reputation database. There is nothing to tamper with independently of the underlying data — which is cryptographically signed at every step.

The inputs are propagated transaction legs, each signed by all parties and witnesses at the time it occurred. A signed leg cannot be altered without breaking the signatures. A leg cannot be invented without forging signatures of parties who never signed it. The chain of integrity runs all the way down to the keypairs held on individual devices.

Every reputation score propagates with an attached confidence score — a cryptographically verifiable measure of how many independent nodes have corroborated it across the mesh. Confidence compounds through propagation: when D receives B’s reputation from C, C’s confidence already reflects corroboration from hundreds of independent nodes across diverse mesh regions. D inherits that confidence. A fraudulent confidence score requires forging signatures or colluding with enough nodes that the clustering penalty makes the fraud self-revealing.

Before any significant transaction, the agent presents both scores plainly: the reputation, the confidence behind it, the independence of the witnesses, the freshness of corroboration. The recipient decides. The system informs. It does not protect.

Why Collusion Is Irrational

The security of Proof of Witness rests on six interlocking constraints that make collusion irrational for any rational actor who models the exit problem.

Manufacturing issuance requires genuine sustained participation — you must be the highest reputation first-hop peer at the moment of a transaction. The conspiracy must be sustained, forfeiting legitimate earning opportunities for the duration. Issuance quality is permanently visible — low-diversity patterns are detectable. Exit requires selling manufactured tokens into the network, which requires counterparties willing to accept them from a node whose history looks suspicious. The exit window is unknowable — colluders cannot know when detection will occur. And at the moment of maximum exposure, when the ring attempts to liquidate at scale, the act of selling triggers detection, the tokens become worthless, and every node involved is permanently excluded.

Knowing all of this in advance, a rational actor does not start.

The network begins with a single honest act: one genesis Soverain, issued to the founder’s node, hardcoded into the protocol as an axiom — exactly as every Bitcoin node accepts the genesis block. That token circulates, attracts witnesses, and generates the first earned issuance. The network grows from one token and one node outward. Every subsequent token in existence was minted because sufficient independent witnesses staked their reputation on the validity of real economic activity.

The full formal specification of the mechanism, including issuance verification criteria, protocol integrity, genesis conditions, and the complete game-theoretic framework, is presented in the appendix.

The Network’s Endgame

The infrastructure that powers Soverain’s communications and payments is simultaneously a platform for capabilities that emerge naturally from the architecture as the network matures.

Censorship-Resistant Social Layer

A Reticulum announce carrying a signed post from a known node address is structurally identical to a transaction leg propagation. Any node can broadcast content — text, images, articles — signed by their keypair, making it unforgeable, attributable, and tamper-proof. It propagates through the mesh to every node that receives it. There is no server, no platform, and no moderator with the power to deplatform anyone.

The reputation and confidence score system applies directly. A high-reputation node whose content propagates widely is the equivalent of a trusted voice. A new node with zero history gets no amplification until it earns it. Low-reputation content is naturally deprioritised without any central editorial decision. The network self-moderates through the same game-theoretic incentives that secure the payments system.

Identity is unified across payments, messaging, agreements, and social broadcast. A node flagged for fraud loses its social reputation simultaneously. You cannot be a good actor in one context and a bad actor in another.

Censorship resistance is absolute in the same sense as the payments system. To silence a node you would need to physically destroy every device that has cached their content. The posts exist on the mesh permanently once propagated.

This is not a separate product. It is a natural extension of infrastructure already being built — the social layer costs almost nothing to add once the mesh, the reputation system, and the announce propagation are in place.

Decentralised AI Marketplace

A Soverain user running a capable local open-source model — on a more powerful machine alongside their Pi, or on future hardware with sufficient compute — can advertise that capacity as a service on the mesh via Reticulum announces. Other Soverain users route inference requests to that node over the mesh, paying in SVN. The transaction is witnessed and propagated like any other.

No intermediary. No API key. No Big Tech data centre. Intelligence as a peer-to-peer service, paid for in the network’s own currency, running on hardware owned by known community members.

Inference requests travel over the encrypted mesh and are processed on hardware owned by a trusted community member. The request never touches the internet. The model operator sees the prompt but has every incentive to provide honest service — their reputation score, and therefore their ability to earn SVN, depends on it. No model provider can refuse to serve a request, deplatform a user, or apply content filtering imposed by a regulator or corporate policy. The model operator sets their own terms. The user chooses based on reputation and confidence. The market decides.

Users who invest in powerful hardware are compensated by the community they serve. SVN earned from inference services is the same currency used for every other transaction on the network. The economy is circular — the more useful a node is to the community, the more SVN it earns, the higher its reputation, the more inference requests it attracts.

Progressive Independence

As more community members run local models, the network’s dependence on any single AI provider diminishes. The local open-source model tier is not merely a personal resilience feature — it is the foundation of a decentralised AI marketplace that makes the entire network more sovereign over time. The internet becomes progressively less necessary even for intelligence.

The trajectory is clear. Today, the internet provides agent intelligence via the Claude API. Tomorrow, community-run local models supplement and eventually replace that dependency. The network does not need to orchestrate this transition — it happens naturally as hardware becomes more capable and community members invest in inference capacity for the SVN rewards it generates.

The endpoint is a Soverain network where intelligence, communications, payments, and agreements all run on community-owned infrastructure, compensated in community-issued currency, with no mandatory dependency on any external party at any layer. That endpoint is not a vision statement. It is the natural trajectory of an architecture that is already designed to reach it — each piece building on what already exists, each dependency removed as the community grows capable of replacing it.

This is where the investor sees the scale. Soverain is not just a payments system with a messaging layer. It is complete sovereign infrastructure — every layer that a modern digital life depends on, rebuilt to run on community-owned hardware with community-issued currency and community-maintained intelligence. The mesh is the transport. The reputation system is the trust. Proof of Witness is the economy. The agent is the interface. And none of it requires permission from anyone.

Transaction Fees and Why Soverain Is Superior to Blockchain

Soverain requires SVN to transact meaningfully. Every transaction carries a small attestation fee — a percentage of transaction value with a minimum floor — paid to the first witness, who distributes it among the attestors who vouch for the transfer. No fee means no attestation, no reputation benefit, and no contribution to issuance. The transaction settles, but it remains invisible to the reputation system. SVN is the price of being known. This is where Soverain’s architecture exposes a fundamental flaw in other blockchain-based payments system. On a blockchain, block space is finite. Miners select which transactions to include based on fees. When the network is busy, fees spike, users compete, and small transactions become uneconomical. The fee market is adversarial by design. Soverain has none of this. The mesh has no blocks, no block space limit, and no mempool. Witnessing is automatic — a node encounters a transaction and attests immediately, in parallel, with no contention between concurrent transactions. Fees on Soverain serve one honest purpose: compensating attestors proportionally for the value they are vouching for, and deterring spam. They do not ration access to a scarce resource. There is no scarce resource to ration.

Residual Risk and Honesty

A system that claims to eliminate fraud entirely is not credible. Proof of Witness does not make that claim.

Undetected Fraud

A sufficiently patient, sophisticated colluder who constructs a convincing reputation history and exits carefully before detection will occasionally succeed. The game-theoretic framework makes this rare and expensive — but not impossible. Some fraudulent SVN will enter circulation undetected.

This acceptance is not a concession. It is an honest acknowledgement that the alternative — a system capable of detecting all fraud — would require the kind of centralised oversight and global ledger that Proof of Witness was designed to avoid. The trade-off is made consciously and in full view.

The Unknowable Supply

Unlike Bitcoin, whose entire supply history is publicly visible on a global ledger, SVN circulates on a private mesh. No node holds a complete picture of total circulation. The supply is unknowable in principle — not as a failure of design, but as a direct consequence of the privacy the system provides.

Soverain does not manage its price. The market does, in full knowledge of what the supply is and is not. If a precisely auditable supply is what you require, other instruments exist for that purpose. Soverain makes no pretence of being them. The currency exists to serve the network. Its value is whatever the market, fully informed of its nature, decides it is. That is not a weakness. It is the refusal to pollute a sovereignty thesis by chasing a price.

Lost Nodes and Natural Deflation

Every node that goes permanently offline — lost hardware, abandoned devices — takes its SVN balance with it. Those tokens are removed from circulation permanently, with no corresponding reduction in the network’s economic activity. This natural deflation from lost nodes is an inherent counterweight to any inflationary pressure from undetected fraud.

The two effects — fraudulent issuance and lost supply — operate simultaneously, in unknown quantities, in opposite directions. Precise supply management is therefore both impossible and unnecessary. SVN is not designed to be a store of value with a controlled emission schedule. It is a medium of exchange whose value is determined by the utility of the network it serves and the trust of the community that uses it.

Value Destruction at Detection

When a fraud is detected, the fraudulent SVN does not enter legitimate circulation. The colluding ring attempts to exit by selling into the network at scale. That act triggers detection. Every token that passed through any flagged address in the ring is immediately tainted. Counterparties who have not yet completed their transactions reject them. The fraudulent SVN becomes worthless in the hands of the people who minted it — unsellable, untransferrable, effectively burnt.

The network does not absorb the fraudulent supply. The fraudsters bear the entire cost. The legitimate supply is unaffected. The impact on SVN value from a detected fraud is not inflationary — it is neutral at worst, because the fraudulent tokens never successfully entered circulation.

The residual value risk is therefore confined to the narrow window of undetected fraud where tokens have already circulated before detection — bounded by the game-theoretic constraints that make large-scale, long-running fraud irrational, and further offset by the natural deflation from lost nodes.

Non-Economic Adversaries

The game-theoretic framework models rational economic actors. State-level or ideological adversaries may pursue network disruption without expecting a positive financial return — absorbing losses that would be irrational for an economic actor. This is a real and acknowledged risk.

The mitigant is architectural rather than economic: the mesh cannot be shut down, traffic cannot be intercepted at the transport layer, and reputation poisoning at scale still requires sustained node presence that is detectable over time. Soverain does not claim immunity from well-resourced adversaries. It claims to be structurally resistant to them in ways that centralised systems are not.

Proof of Witness minimises fraud, makes it expensive, and ensures that most of it is eventually detected and penalised. It does not eliminate it. The system is honest about this — to its users, to its participants, and in this paper. That honesty is itself a form of integrity that no system claiming perfection can offer.

Preferred Stack

Every layer of the Soverain stack is named, costed, and available today. There is no component that requires a research breakthrough, a hardware generation that does not yet exist, or a dependency that has not been publicly released and tested. The table below is a bill of materials, not a wish list. You can build this today for between £400–600 per node.

Appendix: Proof of Witness — Full Protocol Specification

This appendix preserves the formal specification for technical due diligence. The mechanism described here is the same as the summary in the main body; this section provides the precision required to verify that the mechanism works.

A.1 The Problem With Issuance

Participants are pseudonymous node addresses. Transactions are bilaterally signed and witnessed as they propagate through the mesh. Reputation scores are computed locally from propagated transaction legs.

Transaction legs, attestations, reputation scores, confidence scores, fraud flags, and SVN issuance events propagate via Reticulum announces. Private communications use LXMF. The two mechanisms serve distinct purposes and are not interchangeable.

Transactions settle immediately between the two parties. Proof of Witness governs issuance, not settlement. A transaction is complete the moment both parties sign it, regardless of whether it ever triggers new token issuance.

Proof of Witness does influence the network indirectly through the reputation score mechanism. A node that frequently receives low-attestation transactions will see its reputation diluted accordingly, affecting its ability to transact freely at full value.

A.3 Token Fungibility

Soverains (SVN) are fully fungible. Individual tokens carry no provenance. Reputation lives in the network of nodes and their transaction histories, not in the money itself. When D evaluates a transfer from C, D evaluates C’s node reputation score — not the history of the individual tokens being transferred.

A.4 The Mechanism

Settlement — Immediate and Unconditional. A transaction between A and B settles the moment both parties sign it. No witness is required. The transaction is valid and complete.

Two W1 Slots — Always. Every transaction produces exactly two W1 slots, one per leg. W1 for each leg is the highest reputation score node among the first-hop peers that encounter that leg as the transaction propagates. Among equal reputation scores, node address serves as deterministic tiebreaker. W1 selection is deterministic — any node can independently verify who W1 is.

When a single node encounters both legs simultaneously, it holds both W1 slots and claims the full reward. The arithmetic is invariant:

Total attestations required: W. Always. Total reward: one full issuance. Always.

Automatic Witnessing. Witnessing is not a choice. A transaction sits unwitnessed until one party connects to another node on the mesh. That connection is the witness event. The encountering node automatically verifies, signs as witness, becomes W1, and propagates onward. Other nodes add attestations as they encounter the transaction. W1 accumulates them passively. When W1’s count reaches W/2, issuance mints locally — signed by W1’s key, referencing the transaction hash and all W/2 attestation signatures.

Attestation Validity Criteria. For an attestation to qualify: the attesting node must be independent of the transacting parties (recent direct transactions create conflict of interest, discounted proportionally). No two qualifying attestations may come from nodes that have frequently co-witnessed or co-transacted (clustering constraint). Attestations should arrive via diverse mesh paths (topological diversity).

Issuance Verification. Anyone receiving W1’s issuance can verify independently: Is the transaction hash valid? Are there W/2 qualifying attestation signatures for this leg? Does the attestation set meet diversity and clustering criteria? Is W1 the highest reputation first-hop node on record?

A.5 The Doubling Schedule

The total witness threshold W doubles periodically. In the early network, W is low — perhaps 8, meaning each W1 slot requires only 4 attestations. This bootstraps a functioning economy and compensates early participants for the genuine risk of operating on an immature network.

As the network grows, W doubles — perhaps every time active node count crosses a threshold, on a fixed schedule, or as a function of total SVN in circulation — ensuring the security requirement always slightly exceeds the network’s comfortable capacity to meet it.

The specific numbers and doubling triggers are protocol parameters. The principle — security requirement scales with network capacity — is fixed.

A.6 Genesis

One genesis Soverain (SVN), issued to the founder’s node, hardcoded into the protocol as an axiom. This token is declared into existence by the act of creating the network, cryptographically signed by the genesis node, and accepted by every subsequent node as a protocol-level fact — exactly as every Bitcoin node accepts the genesis block.

The genesis Soverain circulates. It is divided and transferred. It attracts witnesses. Those witnessed transactions generate the first earned issuance. The network grows from a single token and a single node outward.

The genesis node carries a unique responsibility at founding. Its historical significance is real — every chain traces back through it. But that history is distributed across the mesh from the first transaction onwards. As the network grows, the genesis node becomes progressively less significant. By the time it is a meaningful target for an adversary, it is no longer a meaningful target — its history already lives on thousands of other devices and cannot be revised or destroyed by compromising a single node.

Should the genesis node behave badly in the network’s early days, before sufficient mesh activity has distributed its history widely, the community’s recourse is a fork — a new genesis with a new protocol hash, a new founding token, and a clean start. This is not a failure state. It is the sovereign response.

With absolute sovereignty comes the burden of absolute responsibility. The genesis node bears more of that burden than any other — but that burden diminishes naturally as the network it founded grows beyond any single point of failure.

A.7 Protocol Integrity

The protocol hash is the cryptographic fingerprint of the protocol rules — the exact specification every node agrees to operate under. Computed at genesis, signed by the genesis node, embedded alongside the genesis Soverain.

Every signed act in the network includes the protocol hash alongside the signing node’s own signature. Every transaction. Every attestation. Every witness signature. Every issuance claim. Every reputation propagation.

Three consequences:

Tampered clients are immediately detectable. Any node operating under a modified protocol produces signatures carrying a different hash. Every honest node checks on every received signature. A tampered client cannot participate silently.

The protocol is immutable by participation. No individual node can unilaterally change the rules. Modification requires an explicit fork — a new network, a new genesis, a new protocol hash. The rules are the rules.

Every signature is simultaneously a compliance attestation. A transaction signature proves not only that the signing node authorised the transaction, but that it was operating under the canonical protocol at the time of signing. The chain of signatures across the network’s entire history is simultaneously a chain of protocol compliance.

The protocol hash and the genesis Soverain are the two axioms on which the entire network is built.

A.8 Reputation — The Central Variable

Reputation is computed independently by every node from the raw transaction legs and witness attestations that have propagated through the mesh. There is no reputation database. There is no authoritative record. There is nothing to tamper with independently of the underlying cryptographically signed data.

The Reputation Score Algorithm. A node’s score reflects:

• Transaction component — transactions completed, weighted by counterparty diversity (ratio of unique counterparties to total transactions)

• Witness component — attestations provided as non-party witness, weighted by independence (ratio of attestations to genuinely unrelated parties versus total)

• W1 component — successful W1 issuance claims, weighted by attestation set quality

• Age component — time active on network, weighted logarithmically (early years count more)

• Reputation points — every qualifying non-W1 attestation increments a non-transferable, non-purchasable count multiplied by independence score

• Clustering penalty — if a disproportionate share of transaction history involves a detectable cluster, a penalty multiplier reduces the overall score

• Fraud flag — any confirmed fraud reduces the score to zero permanently. No recovery. No appeal.

The Confidence Score. A reputation score is only meaningful if the underlying data is trustworthy. The confidence score is a cryptographically verifiable measure of how many independent nodes have contributed to the computing node’s view, weighted by their diversity and their own reputation scores.

Confidence propagates with reputation data and compounds as it travels. Each propagation act is signed by the propagating node’s keypair, making it attributable and verifiable. A single-path reputation with no topological diversity carries low confidence regardless of the number it claims.

A fraudulent confidence score requires forging signatures of nodes that never propagated the data, or colluding with enough nodes that the clustering penalty makes the fraud self-revealing.

What the Agent Presents. Before any significant transaction: “This node has a reputation score of X. That score is corroborated by Y independent nodes across Z distinct mesh regions through N propagation paths. Confidence: High / Medium / Low / Unverified.”

A.9 Unwitnessed Transactions

Every transaction will eventually be witnessed — the moment either party connects to the mesh, witnessing is automatic. A transaction may circulate with few attestations if the parties have had limited mesh contact. Any node considering a transfer from a counterparty whose recent transactions carry few attestations can see this clearly. The agent flags it. The risk is visible.

Anyone who accepts a large transfer from a node whose history is predominantly low-attestation does so knowingly. The network owes you accurate information. It does not owe you safety from your own decisions.

A.10 Transport Agnosticism and Offline Operation

This is the feature that separates Soverain from every other payments system in existence.

A Soverain transaction is cryptographically signed data. Nothing more. Any mechanism that can move bytes between two devices is sufficient to complete it. Bluetooth. NFC. WiFi direct. A QR code. A cable. The protocol does not care. The transport is irrelevant.

This means two people with nothing but their phones and locally cached reputation data constitute a complete, fully functional Soverain payments system. No internet. No mesh. No radio. No infrastructure of any kind. Just two devices, two keypairs, and reputation scores propagated to each device the last time they were online.

NFC is particularly elegant for in-person payments — tap to transact, exactly like a contactless card, except there is no bank, no network, no payment processor, no intermediary of any kind between the two parties.

Offline operation is a first-class feature. Offline operation is not a degraded mode. It is not a fallback. It is a deliberate and central design property.

Reputation and confidence scores are held locally on every device. They are propagated through the mesh when connectivity exists — accumulating corroboration, compounding confidence, spreading fraud flags — so that when two parties meet in the complete absence of any network, they already carry sufficient information to make an informed decision.

The agent surfaces this explicitly. For a high-reputation, high-confidence, recently corroborated node, the cached data is more than sufficient for any reasonable transaction value. The decision is the recipient’s. The information is complete. The network’s absence changes nothing about the validity of the transaction or the cryptographic integrity of the reputation data held locally.

The mesh reframed. The mesh — the LoRa radio network, the WiFi connections, the internet tunnels when available — is not the payments infrastructure. It is the reputation propagation infrastructure. Its job is to carry reputation scores, confidence scores, transaction legs, attestations, and fraud flags between nodes so that every device holds the richest possible picture of every other node’s history.

Payments happen over whatever transport is available at the moment of transaction. Reputation propagates over the mesh whenever connectivity exists. The two are fully decoupled. The denser the mesh, the more frequently devices encounter each other, the richer and more current the reputation data held by every node.

This design is genuinely censorship-resistant in a way no other payments system achieves. To prevent two Soverain parties from transacting, an adversary would need to physically separate them and simultaneously destroy every local copy of their reputation data. There is no server to shut down. No network to block. No payment processor to coerce. No bank account to freeze. The system exists in the devices and the keypairs of its participants. It cannot be switched off.

A.11 Supply, Inflation, and Value

Unlike Bitcoin, whose 21 million token cap is an ideological choice that produces deflationary pressure and incentivises hoarding over spending, Soverain imposes no artificial constraint on SVN supply. Issuance is unbounded.

This is the correct model for a medium of exchange. Soverains enter circulation only when witnessed economic activity justifies them. The more transactions the network processes, the more issuance events occur, the more SVN circulate — but they accrue exclusively to the nodes that generated the activity and kept the network honest. Supply grows with utility. Inflation is not a pathology to be suppressed. It is the signal that the network is working.

The doubling of W provides the natural brake. As the network matures and densifies, each issuance event requires more attestations from more diverse witnesses. Supply growth slows naturally as the barrier to issuance rises — not because a number in the protocol says so, but because the network demands more proof of genuine activity before rewarding it. There is no hard ceiling. There is no arbitrary scarcity.

A Soverain’s purchasing power is determined by the ratio of circulating supply to network utility — not by a cap written into code a decade before the network existed. As utility grows faster than supply, value rises. As supply grows with utility, value stabilises. The market determines this continuously, without the distortions introduced by artificial scarcity or programmatic emission schedules that bear no relationship to actual economic demand.

Value accrues to participants, not to early holders. Soverains earned through witnessing and issuance flow to the nodes that make the network useful.

A.12 Game Theory — The Complete Argument

The security of Proof of Witness rests on making collusion irrational. The complete argument has six components.

Manufacturing issuance is expensive. To fraudulently claim a W1 reward, a node must be the highest reputation score first-hop peer at the moment of a transaction — which requires genuine sustained participation — and must accumulate W/2 qualifying, diverse, unclustered attestations for that leg. For a mature network, the infrastructure cost of building a ring capable of manufacturing this is substantial.

The conspiracy must be sustained. Every node in a colluding ring forfeits legitimate reputation point accumulation and honest W1 opportunities for the duration. The opportunity cost is real and ongoing.

Issuance quality is permanently visible. A node that consistently produces low-diversity, clustered issuance events accumulates a reputation score and confidence score that reflect this — reducing future W1 selection probability and flagging them as a quality risk to counterparties.

Exit requires selling into the network. Fraudulently minted Soverains have no value unless exchanged for real value. That exchange requires counterparties willing to accept them from a node whose reputation score reflects suspicious behaviour. A coordinated exit at scale is anomalous and triggers scrutiny.

The exit window is unknowable. The colluders cannot know when detection will occur, how much of their history has propagated, or when the anomaly threshold will be crossed. Rational actors do not commit to expensive, long-running conspiracies when the payoff window is unknowable and the downside is total.

Value destruction at the moment of maximum exposure. By the time the ring attempts to liquidate, the act of selling at scale triggers detection. The Soverains drop in value. The exit fails. Every node involved is permanently excluded, losing all accumulated reputation points and future earning potential.

Knowing all of this in advance, a rational actor does not start.

A note on non-economic adversaries. The framework above models rational economic actors. State-level or ideological adversaries may pursue network disruption without expecting a positive financial return — absorbing losses that would be irrational for an economic actor. This is a real and acknowledged risk. The mitigant is architectural rather than economic: the mesh cannot be shut down, traffic cannot be intercepted at the transport layer, and reputation poisoning at scale still requires sustained node presence that is detectable over time. Soverain does not claim immunity from well-resourced adversaries. It claims to be structurally resistant to them in ways that centralised systems are not.

A note on the Claude API. The agent is a convenience, not a dependency. The network operates fully without it — messaging, payments, agreements, and reputation all function independently of any AI layer. Users who find the technical aspects challenging when the agent is unavailable can ask knowledgeable community members for assistance. Soverain is designed for people who understand their tools or have the relationships to learn. The agent accelerates that understanding. It does not replace it.

Proof of Witness begins with one node and one Soverain. It ends with a resilient network - the counterpoint to a totalitarian globalist dystopia.

The following article is a strongly critical opinion piece arguing that Scotland’s new climate change plan for 2026–2040 is technically illiterate, economically damaging, and driven by ideological “Net Zero” dogma rather than realistic energy policy.

Douglas Brodie contends that SNP ministers and most MSPs misunderstand how the electricity system works, wrongly believe removing gas generation will cut bills, and ignore expert warnings (notably from energy consultant Kathryn Porter) that Scotland’s grid is increasingly fragile due to heavy reliance on renewables and the impending closure of key synchronous plants like Torness and Peterhead. He argues that despite continued heavy UK dependence on fossil fuels and already very high electricity prices, the plan doubles down on unilateral Net Zero, which he sees as leading to deindustrialisation and blackout risk.

Politically, he portrays the plan as part of a wider “deep state”/UN/Agenda 2030 project, accuses Scottish and UK leaders of dishonesty, and claims mainstream media and institutions are promoting a “climate change hoax.” He urges opponents to use these themes in the upcoming Holyrood elections, calling for the climate plan to be scrapped and describing the Scottish Parliament’s approach as a “scientifically-flawed economy-wrecking disaster” that should delegitimise the current political leadership.

The same could be said for the rest of the United Kingdom.

The SNP Scottish Government has just published its updated climate change plan for the period 2026 to 2040. It is very long-winded as its tentacles extend intrusively into almost every aspect of Scottish society and life. It is also very off-putting to read as almost every sentence contains an unjustified assertion, an obvious nonsense or a blatant falsehood.

The ministerial forward by Gillian Martin gives the depressing flavour. After a political career spent fobbing off and ignoring contrarian climate change/Net Zero realists (like me), she sadly has the lack of self-awareness to complain about “a worrying increase in anti-climate rhetoric”!

The Holyrood official report of the ministerial statement and questions from MSPs is also very depressing as it shows that climate and energy ignorance is rife throughout the Scottish parliament. The only minor relief came from Douglas Lumsden (Con), although I found his contribution disappointing in not referring to his Westminster party promise to repeal the Climate Change Act, as recorded here and here. His party colleagues were also underwhelming in expressing scepticism of the plan.

It is clear that the SNP (in fact most MSPs) haven’t a clue how our electricity system works, revealed through the contribution from Kevin Stewart (SNP), with the energy minister in agreement, ludicrously claiming that the only way to get Scottish electricity bills down is through Scottish independence!

The minister and several other MSPs lean on the doubly-false narrative that the price of electricity is determined by the price of gas and that this price is set by the international market. Their simplistic mantra is that everything would be hunky dory if we could only get rid of gas-fired power from the grid. The obvious flaw in their naive narrative is that dispatchable gas is essential for grid balancing and backup. Here’s a quick schooling by an energy accountant expert on how misguided they all are.

Independent energy consultant Kathryn Porter is doing great work in debunking Net Zero energy policy madness, for example here on the UK’s mad oil and gas policy and here in a video presentation on the Net Zero electrification delusion. She is even offering to educate politicians pro bono on how the energy system and its markets work.

I note from Annex 3 of the plan on Energy Supply Loss of Load that they hope grid outages will not exceed 3 hours per year. The reality is that the Scottish electricity grid is hanging on by a thread against potentially catastrophic outages thanks almost entirely to its two remaining large synchronous generators, Torness and Peterhead, which are both nearing end of life. The clueless SNP who needlessly blew up Longannet give the impression that they would happily replace these vital power stations with yet more very expensive (not “low-cost”) yet low energy value weather-dependent renewables.

The ubiquitous Kathryn Porter published a report last October saying that Scotland is uniquely exposed to grid failure due to its already over-heavy reliance on inertia-lacking renewables. I referred to this in my response to the SNP’s consultation on their draft plan. Kathryn has repeated her warning of looming Scottish blackouts in this recent lecture. There is no indication that the SNP or our delinquent grid professionals have taken any heed of these warnings.

There is no point in going through this SNP climate change plan to debunk its many technical absurdities and overall futility. I stand by my broad-brush dissection of the nonsense in its draft version. With official statistics (Dukes 2025) showing that in 2024 the UK was still 75.2% dependent on fossil fuels for its primary energy supplies, UK Net Zero is clearly going nowhere yet has already given us the highest electricity prices in the developed world, a crippling four times higher than the USA, with devastating deindustrialisation proceeding apace. The whole thing needs to be swept away before it does even more damage as it is based entirely on the multiple false narratives (i.e. lies) put out by the establishment climate change mafia and green blob, e.g. as in these headline extracts from the plan.

I mused in my response to the draft plan consultation, referring to minister Gillian Martin: “Is she bad (a treasonous Globalist puppet) or is she mad (having swallowed the Globalists’ false propaganda)?”

To the long-suffering electorate who have never been given a proper vote (or the truth) on this issue, the answer to that question actually makes no difference as the outcome of pursuing Net Zero to the bitter end is certain to be dire, perhaps catastrophic. The depth of climate change lunacy prevailing throughout parliament suggests that most MSPs are mad, having fallen hook, line and sinker for the deep state/UN/EU/WEF/WHO false propaganda constantly spun by the green blob and the bought-and-paid-for mainstream media to support their nefarious ulterior motives.

I still hold to the view that our political leadership is probably bad rather than mad through having meekly and cravenly followed the destructive policy instructions of their deep state overlords and knowingly lied to the electorate the whole time, just as they did during other recent oppressions.

As I surmised in my consultation response, the ulterior motivation of pursuing this climate change plan is revealed in Annex 1C, namely the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN’s dystopian Agenda 2030 which no electorate has ever voted for, which no politician dares to even mention in public and which is entirely predicated on the widely-discredited climate change hoax. This innocently-worded yet 1984-inspired technocratic slavery system is exposed in this article which introduces a documentary about it entitled “The Agenda: Their Vision, Your Future”. The first 10 minutes gives the full flavour.

It ought to be easy to campaign against this climate change lunacy in the hustings for the May Holyrood elections. One easy line of attack is the self-harming and pointless unilateral pursuit of Net Zero which most of the rest of the world clearly doesn’t give two hoots about. I find it impossible to believe that this unilateral striving is due to pig-headed stupidity. It must be a deep state policy which is somehow unchallengeable and mandatory for the compliant Uniparty, with the original intent stated about 30 years ago by the father of the corrupt-by-design UN IPCC Maurice Strong, as recorded in my May 2024 post Debunking the climate change hoax:

“Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring this about?”

Sadly, the deep state doesn’t seem to have realised that it is now just shooting itself in the foot as very few other countries are following us down their green-tinted path to deindustrialisation and national irrelevance. The USA in particular, which was probably their main target for deliberate deindustrialisation, has now pivoted away from the deep state-compliant self-destructive lunacy of Obama and Biden. Harsh geopolitical reality will hopefully soon force a policy reversal here in the UK.

A final piece of trivia. Although this plan is entitled the “climate change plan”, its content makes scant mention of actually “tackling climate change”. Apart from referring to reducing emissions (a pointless exercise IMHO, especially unilateral), all I can find in the main body is:

“Given the crucial role that devolved governments play in tackling climate change, we are also working to enhance their visibility and influence within multilateral climate discussions, ensuring that voices like Scotland’s—and those of our partners—help shape global progress.”

In other words, carry on blethering at COP conferences and suchlike forums! What an idiotic, intelligence-insulting policy. This delusional Scottish parliament deserves to be shut down for creating and endorsing such a scientifically-flawed economy-wrecking disaster of which they were fully forewarned by many well-informed technically-competent climate sceptics a decade and more ago.

PS: The UK government has just announced that due to security concerns it has blocked the Chinese company Ming Yang from supplying wind turbines. This will hopefully put the kibosh on the threatened blot on my local coastal seascape of an intrusive eyesore staging ground for the foundations of ruinously-expensive floating offshore wind turbines. If the SNP is unhappy about the loss of “green” jobs this probably entails, they could less damagingly and less expensively employ workers to dig large holes in the ground, using only hand shovels to spin out the work, then neatly fill them in again.

Earlier this month, headlines warned of a meningitis outbreak sweeping through Kent’s university population. Students were urged to get vaccinated. (Some) Parents panicked. Public health machinery mobilised at (warp)speed.

It mobilised, one might note, with remarkable readiness. The previous year, UK schools had participated in Exercise PEGASUS — the largest pandemic simulation in British history — drilling the exact infrastructure of outbreak response that was now being activated for real. The rehearsal preceded the performance. Sound familar?

But beneath the scaremongering, some were once again quietly asking questions grounded not in reassurance or denial, but in mathematics.

Was the outbreak real, or was the surveillance system diagnosing itself?

My friend, Professor Martin Neil, is a Bayesian mathematician. He examined the diagnostic foundations of the Kent cluster and found them structurally unreliable. His analysis centres on a straightforward statistical problem: when you apply broad symptom-based case definitions and single-gene PCR testing to a university population, you are testing a group where the base rate of true invasive meningitis is extremely low, but where three confounding factors converge:

1. the symptoms used to flag suspected cases — headache, fever, stiff neck, fatigue, nausea — overlap heavily with hangovers, common colds, and routine viral illness. In a student population, these symptoms are near-ubiquitous during term time;

2. background carriage of meningococcal bacteria in young adults is high. Carrying the bacterium is not the same as being ill with meningococcal disease. PCR tests detect the organism’s DNA. They do not distinguish between harmless nasal carriage and genuine invasion of the bloodstream or meninges;

3. no diagnostic test is perfect. Even with high specificity, when the true prevalence of invasive disease is very low, the mathematics of conditional probability - Bayes’ theorem - dictate that a significant proportion of positive results will be false positives.

Martin’s calculations, using assumptions he describes as “generous” to UKHSA, show that the posterior probability of true invasive meningitis remains extremely low even after a patient presents with compatible symptoms and returns a positive PCR. The early inflated case counts, he argues, are not a failure of execution but a predictable consequence of the surveillance design itself. The later “downgrading” of cases is not reassuring correction — it is the system catching up with its own false-positive rate.

The pattern is familiar by now (assuming you did not sleep through the early part of this decade): cast a wide net in a population full of noise, count everything the net catches, and the outbreak announces itself.

Into this environment of elevated case counts and media coverage, mass vaccination campaigns were inevitably deployed (money), particularly targeting the B strain of meningococcal disease with newer vaccine formulations (even more money).

At this point, we hand the baton over to my other friend, Jessica Rose. She’s a molecular biologist. She examined the risk profile of these vaccines and was concerned. Documenting reports from previous meningitis vaccine campaigns, Jessica identifies significant numbers of cases of meningitis occurring shortly after vaccination. The temporal clustering of these cases, she argues, suggests more than coincidence.

The newer B-strain vaccines are engineered to produce a strong immune response. By design, they aggressively stimulate the immune system. Jessica’s analysis suggests this mechanism can backfire. In some individuals, the inflammatory response triggered by the vaccine itself may cause the very condition it is meant to prevent, or produce other serious immunological complications. Sound familiar?

Her assessment is direct: these vaccines may cause more problems than they solve, particularly when deployed at population scale into a situation where the underlying threat may have been overstated from the start (cue Martin).

There is something beautiful in what Martin and Jessica each demonstrate, from their different vantage points. A Bayesian prior does not care who issued the press release. A conditional probability is unmoved by the authority of the institution that designed the test. The inflammatory cascade triggered by an adjuvant does not consult the policy objectives behind the vaccination campaign. Mathematics and molecular biology simply describe what is. They are indifferent to whether you believe them, whether a committee endorsed them, or whether the conclusion is convenient.

This is their power, and it is precisely why these disciplines are so rarely consulted by the public in moments of alarm. An authoritative narrative — delivered by familiar institutions, amplified by media, and shared by everyone around you — is easy and convenient to accept. It requires no calculation, no weighing of priors, no understanding of specificity versus sensitivity. It asks only that you trust “authority” and comply.

The mathematics of false-positive rates in low-prevalence populations is not easy. It requires you to sit with uncertainty, to hold two numbers in your head and understand why their ratio matters more than either one alone. Most people, understandably, will choose the narrative that has already been digested for them over the one that demands they have to work hard at - and let’s be honest, the work that should have been done many years ago in preparation.

But the narrative can be wrong, and it most often is, such that it is polluted by political and economic interests. The mathematics cannot. It does not matter how many people repeat a false-positive count - Bayes’ theorem will quietly, patiently, say the same thing it always said. The truth of a conditional probability is not subject to consensus, and it does not erode under repetition of the counter-narrative.

What emerges from these two analyses, taken together, is not a story about a single misdiagnosis or a single bad vaccine lot. It is a structural pattern and it succeeds precisely because the disciplines that would expose it are harder than the narrative that conceals it.

Broad diagnostic criteria generate high case counts. High case counts generate media coverage. Media coverage generates public fear. Public fear generates demand for intervention. Intervention is deployed rapidly, with its own risk profile unexamined against the backdrop of inflated numbers.

PROBLEM - REACTION - SOLUTION

At no point in this sequence does anyone need to act in bad faith. The surveillance system does what it was designed to do. The media reports what the surveillance system produces. The public responds rationally to what the media reports. And the health response follows the public demand. Each link in the chain behaves logically. The aggregate result is an escalation machine that manufactures its own justification and runs unopposed as long as no one pauses to do the arithmetic - or rather listen to those who do.

None of this machinery was invented for Kent. It was rehearsed, at global scale, during COVID-19 - ironically including Kent at the inception of the second wave in the UK - and anyone paying attention will recognise every component.

A PCR test with cycle thresholds high enough to detect non-viable viral fragments was applied to mass populations, producing case counts that conflated active infection with residual RNA. Broad symptom definitions — cough, fever, fatigue, loss of taste — overlapped with dozens of common conditions. “Cases” replaced “illness” as the unit of public discourse, and the distinction between a positive test and a sick person was abandoned once again. The inflated numbers drove media saturation, which drove public fear, which drove demand for a rapid vaccine rollout — deployed under emergency authorisation, with long-term safety data replaced by urgency.

THE EXACT SAME PLAYBOOK AS COVID-19

The same structural pattern. Broad diagnostic criteria. Imperfect tests applied at scale to low-prevalence or ambiguous populations. Case counts that function as fear metrics rather than clinical indicators. And an intervention deployed into the manufactured demand, carrying its own risks that are unmeasurable against the inflated baseline.

Kent is not an echo of COVID. It is the same mechanism, running the same programme, on a smaller stage. The only difference is that this time, the playbook is visible to anyone who took in the last performance. The diagnostic architecture that manufactured a global pandemic has not been dismantled. It has simply been redeployed. Alas, it does not seem like everyone was paying attention.

Martin and Jessica both arrive at the same practical recommendation, from different starting points:

Do not let fear override individual assessment.

Know the actual warning signs of invasive meningitis — the rash that does not fade under pressure, sudden high fever with altered consciousness, severe and rapidly worsening headache. These are specific. They are distinct from the broad symptom lists used in population surveillance.

Weigh any medical intervention against the actual probability of the threat it claims to address — not against the headlines.

And when the next outbreak is announced, ask the first and most important question:

Who benefits from it?

He is a whistleblower whose public interest disclosures about patient safety, governance failures, and regulatory conduct led to retaliatory action, including GMC erasure and DBS listing, rather than protection under whistleblowing and human rights laws.​

These actions breach employment rights, whistleblower protections, and human rights (fair hearing, private life, reputation) and amount to “punishment without trial,” causing loss of career, income, reputation, and severe psychological harm.

What follows is not new research. It’s a reminder of what we already knew - what the authorities themselves knew - before they mandated masks anyway. The randomised controlled trials haven’t changed. The real-world data hasn’t changed. The physics hasn’t changed. The only thing that has changed is that we now have even more evidence confirming what was already clear: universal masking was, and remains, a policy without scientific foundation.

The Scientists Flip-Flopped

In the early months of 2020, the world’s leading health officials were remarkably consistent in their messaging about masks. Professor Chris Whitty, England’s Chief Medical Officer, stated on 11th March 2020:

“In terms of wearing a mask, our advice is clear: that wearing a mask if you don’t have an infection reduces the risk almost not at all. So we do not advise that.”

Dr Jenny Harries, England’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer, was even more direct, calling mask-wearing “really not a good idea” and warning that “in some ways you may actually risk catching the disease rather than preventing it.”

Anthony Fauci himself told Americans in March 2020 that “there’s no reason to be walking around with a mask” because they provide no “perfect protection” and often lead to “unintended consequences” as people “keep fiddling with the mask and keep touching their face.”

Yet within months, every single one of these officials executed a complete volte-face. The question that demands answering is what new evidence emerged to justify this reversal? The truth is: none. The evidence that existed in March 2020 is the same evidence that exists today. Nothing changed - except the politics.

The Cochrane Review: The Gold Standard Says “No Difference”

The Cochrane Collaboration is universally regarded as the world’s leading authority on collating medical evidence. Their systematic reviews are considered the gold standard in evidence-based medicine. In February 2023, Cochrane published their comprehensive analysis of the evidence on masking, examining randomised controlled trials - the highest quality of evidence in medicine.

Their conclusion was damning: masks made “little to no difference” in preventing respiratory viral infections. This wasn’t some fringe opinion. This was the world’s premier evidence synthesis organisation, examining the totality of the highest-quality evidence, reaching a verdict that should have ended the mask debate permanently.

The original Cochrane review had been delayed by seven months until November 2020 due to what lead author Thomas Jefferson described as “unexplained editorial decisions” - meaning mask mandates were already firmly in place before the evidence review could be published. When the updated review finally dropped its verdict in 2023, the response from public health authorities was revealing: they simply ignored it.

In a stunning betrayal of scientific integrity, Cochrane’s Editor-in-Chief later published an apology about the review - without consulting the authors. Jefferson called it “a colossal mistake” that “sends the message that Cochrane can be pressured by reporters to change their reviews.” The gold standard of evidence had delivered an unwelcome verdict, and the establishment’s response was to shoot the messenger.

Surgeons Don’t Need Them Either

The most common retort from mask advocates has always been: “If masks don’t work, why do surgeons wear them?” It’s a seemingly compelling argument - until you examine the evidence.

A Cochrane review on surgical masks found “no statistically significant difference in infection rates between the masked and unmasked group” in operating theatres. Their plain-language summary states: “There is no clear evidence that wearing disposable face masks affects the likelihood of wound infections developing after surgery.”

In 2020, two senior surgeons - John Black, former President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Antony Narula, a senior otorhinolaryngologist - wrote to The Telegraph explaining that they had “discarded masks more than 20 years ago, after a series of controlled trials showed that using them either had no effect on, or sometimes actually increased, the risk of post-operative infection.”

The surgical mask was never designed to prevent viral transmission. As a 2008 Health and Safety Executive report stated plainly: “Surgical face masks are not intended to provide protection against infectious aerosols. There is a common misperception amongst workers and employers that surgical masks will protect against aerosols.” The masks surgeons wear are designed to prevent large droplets from contaminating open wounds - not to filter out viruses.

The Physics Problem: Trying to Stop Smoke with a Tennis Racket

The SARS-CoV-2 virus measures approximately 0.125 microns in diameter. The holes in cloth masks are vastly larger than this. As Dr Colin Axon, a former adviser to SAGE, explained: masks are just “comfort blankets” where “an imperfect analogy would be to imagine marbles fired at builders’ scaffolding - some might hit a pole and rebound but obviously most will fly through.”

Dr Clare Craig, a diagnostic pathologist, puts it even more starkly: “If someone sent you into a smoke-filled room wearing a cloth mask and you could smell tobacco, then you could also breathe in the virus (and exhale it back into the room). The holes in the fabric were so large it would be like trying to protect a double decker bus from grapefruit and lentils being thrown at it by using badminton or even tennis rackets with no strings in.”

Laboratory studies consistently demonstrated this reality. A 2010 study measuring filter efficiency found cloth masks had “near zero efficiency” at filtering particles of 0.3 microns - particles that are still more than twice the size of the coronavirus. T-shirts filtered approximately 10% of particles; scarves 10-20%; cloth masks 10-30%. The virus wasn’t being stopped; it was sailing through.

The Real-World Data: Where Mask Mandates Made No Difference

If masks worked, we should have seen dramatic differences between regions with strict mask mandates and those without. Ian Miller, author of “Unmasked: The Global Failure of COVID Mask Mandates,” conducted a comprehensive analysis of US states. His findings were unequivocal: in every single comparison of masked versus unmasked neighbouring states, the COVID trajectories were identical.

The North Dakota vs South Dakota comparison is particularly instructive. North Dakota had more social distancing and higher mask compliance throughout the first wave. South Dakota had minimal restrictions. The result? North Dakota actually had slightly more cases on a population-adjusted basis. There was a positive correlation between mask compliance and COVID cases - the opposite of what mask advocates predicted.

A 2022 peer-reviewed study published in Cureus examined mask compliance and COVID-19 outcomes across 35 European countries. The conclusion was devastating for mask advocates: “Countries with high levels of mask compliance did not perform better than those with low mask usage.” Perhaps more troublingly, the study found “the moderate positive correlation between mask usage and deaths in Western Europe also suggests that the universal use of masks may have had harmful unintended consequences.”

Germany and Austria mandated medical-grade masks - the supposedly superior N95 respirators. Yet there was no difference in case numbers compared to neighbouring countries. Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong - nations with near-universal mask compliance - have since confirmed these findings. The masks simply didn’t work at a population level.

It’s Just a Mask

While the benefits of masking remained theoretical, the harms were very real. The WHO’s own June 2020 guidance acknowledged numerous “likely disadvantages” including: self-contamination from mask manipulation; favourable conditions for microorganism growth when masks become wet or soiled; headaches and breathing difficulties; facial skin lesions and dermatitis; and a “false sense of security” leading to neglect of other measures.

The phenomenon of “mask mouth” emerged - dentists reporting a surge in patients with decaying teeth, receding gum lines, and serious halitosis. Wearing masks increases oral dryness, reducing saliva production - and saliva is the body’s natural defence against oral bacteria.

A 2015 randomised controlled trial of cloth masks in healthcare workers found they “resulted in significantly higher rates of infection” compared to medical masks and even compared to the control group. The study authors warned: “Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks, and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection.”

The “Fögen Effect” - named after German researcher Zacharias Fögen - describes the phenomenon whereby mask mandates were associated with higher COVID mortality, not lower. The proposed mechanism: masks trap virus-laden droplets that are then re-inhaled in concentrated form, or the mask creates conditions that worsen respiratory infections. Whether or not this mechanism is correct, the correlation between mandates and worse outcomes was consistently observed.

Belgian doctors wrote an open letter begging for the cancellation of school mask mandates, warning of “increasing numbers of children and young people with complaints due to the rules of conduct.” They diagnosed anxiety, sleep problems, behavioural disorders, and contamination fears. They wrote: “The mandatory mouth mask in schools is a major threat to their development. The well-being of children and young people is highly dependent on the emotional connection with others... The mouth mask obligation makes the school a threatening and unsafe environment, where emotional connection becomes difficult.”

The Canadian Legal Ruling That Exposed the Truth

In 2018 - before COVID - a Canadian arbitrator ruled against “vaccinate or mask” policies that required healthcare workers to either get flu vaccines or wear masks during flu season. The ruling is remarkable for how comprehensively it demolishes the evidence base for masking.

The arbitrator, James Hayes, noted that even the expert witnesses defending compulsory masking admitted “there’s not a lot of evidence to support mask use” and “there’s quite a limited literature concerning the effectiveness of masks in prevention transmission.” Hayes struck down the policy as “unreasonable,” finding that “the weight of scientific evidence said to support the policy on patient safety grounds is insufficient to warrant the imposition of a mask-wearing requirement.”

The British Columbia Medical Journal published an analysis in 2016 noting that no provincial statistics were kept on hospital-acquired influenza infections. The BC Centre for Disease Control, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and multiple other health authorities all confirmed they kept no such records. The entire policy was, in the journal’s words, “based on assumptions and guesswork, not evidence.”

The Evidence Manipulation Playbook

How did public health authorities maintain the fiction that masks worked despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary? Dr Clare Craig identifies a consistent pattern: extrapolate, excuse, and exclude.

Extrapolate: Laboratory studies showing masks could reduce droplet dispersal in artificial conditions were extrapolated to claim real-world effectiveness. Anecdotal evidence - like a Missouri hair salon where masked stylists supposedly didn’t spread COVID - was treated as definitive proof. That study, incidentally, had no control group, occurred during a period of minimal viral circulation, and half the clients refused testing.

Excuse: When masks failed to show benefits, excuses proliferated: not enough people were wearing them, they weren’t wearing them properly, people “let their guard down” due to overconfidence. When Public Health England’s own study showed schools without masks had lower COVID rates, they simply modelled the data to invert the results - claiming the unmasked schools must have had lower underlying risk.

Exclude: Real-world evidence was systematically ignored. Experts explaining why masks couldn’t work were silenced on social media. The Danish randomised controlled trial showing no benefit from masking was initially suppressed - multiple journals refused to publish it. When inconvenient evidence emerged, it was memory-holed or dismissed as “misinformation.”

The NEJM Said It First

The New England Journal of Medicine - one of the world’s most prestigious medical journals - published an editorial in May 2020 that should have ended the mask debate before it began:

“We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to COVID-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic COVID-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching COVID-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.”

The journal acknowledged the uncomfortable truth: masks were “talismans” that “help increase health care workers’ perceived sense of safety, well-being, and trust.” They were psychological comfort blankets, not medical interventions.

The WHO’s Accidental Honesty

Perhaps the most damning indictment of mask policy comes from the WHO’s own June 2020 guidance document, which admitted: “At present, there is no direct evidence (from studies on COVID-19 and in healthy people in the community) on the effectiveness of universal masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.”

Yet in the same document, the WHO recommended masking anyway. Their listed “benefits” are revealing: reducing stigmatisation, making people feel like they’re contributing, reminding people to comply with other measures, and - astonishingly - promoting “individual enterprise” through homemade mask production. These are social engineering objectives, not public health benefits.

Holland’s Medical Care Minister Tamara van Ark stated the truth plainly: “From a medical point of view, there is no evidence of a medical effect of wearing face masks, so we decided not to impose a national obligation.” The Netherlands never imposed general mask mandates. Their COVID outcomes were no worse than heavily-masked nations.

The Reckoning That Never Came

None of this is new. Every study cited above existed before the current wave of mask advocacy began. The Cochrane reviews, the randomised controlled trials, the real-world comparisons, the physics of filtration - all of it was known. The evidence hasn’t changed. What has changed is the audacity of those who would ignore it.

There has been no accountability for the first round of mask mandates. No apologies. No acknowledgment that millions of people were coerced into wearing ineffective face coverings based on assumptions, hope, and political pressure rather than evidence. And now, emboldened by that lack of consequences, the same voices are back demanding we do it all again.

The mask mandate era exposed a troubling truth about modern public health: when politics and evidence collide, evidence loses. When the scientific establishment says one thing in private (or in March 2020) and another thing in public (once the political winds shift), trust collapses. And when critics who pointed out the evidence were censored, silenced, and smeared as “anti-science,” while the actual science supported their position, something fundamental broke in the relationship between public health authorities and the public they claim to serve.

The evidence hasn’t changed. And if you’re still donning a face nappy every time someone sneezes on the Tube, you have no excuse. The information is there. It always was. You’re not being cautious; you’re being credulous. You’re not “following the science”; you’re following the herd - a herd that was deliberately stampeded by people who knew better and did it anyway. Every mask you strap on is a small act of submission to a lie. It’s a visible declaration that you’d rather conform than think, rather obey than question, rather feel safe than actually be informed. The germaphobes aren’t counting on the science - they’re counting on your compliance. Stop giving it to them.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Nick as an early member of PANDA - established in April 2020 by a group of multidisciplinary professionals, who perceived the global reaction to Covid - from lockdowns to mandates - as overwrought and damaging to the point of causing a great tear in the fabric of society.

At the seminar, Nick was awarded Best Speaker by audience vote. I challenge and plead you to get any of your not-yet-awake friends and family to consider what he says and counter it if they can. These are dark times.

What everyone should know about mainstream dogma

Distortion of reality by tightly controlled media and highly censored social media, and by actor-politicians has become so intense that most people have disconnected from reality on many dimensions.

Democracy has long been dysfunctional, with manipulation of electoral results and control of candidates for election making a mockery of democratic processes, and the roles of unelected officials coming to dominate those of the elected ones. In this environment, vast and completely fabricated narratives have been successfully launched upon unsuspecting populations:

1. With respect to covid, there was no viral pandemic, and the mRNA vaccines were utter frauds and dangerous to boot.

2. With respect to climate change, the carbon dioxide output of humans is irrelevant.

3. With respect to central banking, your money is being stolen by currency debasement.

4. With respect to immigration, the flood of “refugees” is really a planned importation of people chosen to extinguish local culture and mores.

5. With respect to all publicised wars, the causes and motives are misrepresented, and the interests they serve obscured.

6. With respect to trans rights, trans people have degenerate cognition, not legitimate knowledge of what it is like to be the other gender.

It does not matter whether this situation reflects planning on the part of a shadowy elite, or is emergent from the decline of your civilization. No matter whom you vote for, or what gloss your preferred candidate puts on these issues, nothing will change until you and enough of the people around you wake up to reality, and launch a campaign of consistent non-compliance with the antihuman trajectory that manipulative elites have set us upon.

It does not matter whether you label the centralizing ambitions of those elites as socialism, communism, technocracy, globalism or fascism. It doesn’t matter whether you see them as reflecting philanthropic, criminal or satanic motives. The important thing about centralisation is that it absolutely requires censorship and comprehensive obliteration of rights and freedoms to persist, and that it is wholly incompatible with the flourishing of human beings.

Five years ago, I became part of a minority that saw through the covid scam and warned of it being a harbinger of a global technocratic surveillance state. We spoke of a forthcoming digital control grid, an age of digital feudalism, the advent of digital IDs and programmable central bank digital currencies, and of the weaponisation of the so-called sustainable development goals - the SDGs - in pursuit of these objectives. People who called us conspiracy theorists are now looking very foolish, as developments are advancing in covid-like lockstep and at lightning pace. We are witnessing the wholesale destruction of cultures and countries of the West, and I include South Africa in that grouping. And we are witnessing the hyperaggressive colonialism of forced investment into costly and economically catastrophic renewable energy economies throughout the developing world, and destabilization of nations that do not comply.

Mainstream media dogma continues to hold to the charmingly childish perspective that the West consists of democracies where the popular will is expressed, but nothing could be further from the truth. It made no difference that Trump defeated Kamala Harris. Like Zylensky in the Ukraine these people are constructs with merely superficial differences, devoid of political experience, and furthering uniparty interests, whether they aspire to or not.

As proof of that assertion, I offer you some brutal facts. Within about a hundred days of Trump taking office, Palantir, a surveillance business established by Peter Thiel with backing from In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s commercial technology arm, had been endowed with massive state funding - $10B from the US Army, and another $1B or so from the Departments of Homeland Security and Defence, and the Pentagon. At the same time Trump absolutely tore down structures focused on safeguarding data privacy, allowing government agencies to share data points on citizens without limit. Also salient was what Trump did not do. He did not reverse Obama’s deletion of a law that made it illegal for the US government to propagandise and lie to US citizens.

All these steps were the continuation of a century-long trajectory, built around two significant pillars - firstly, a merged intelligence community incorporating the CIA, MI6 and Mossad, and secondly, what we might call the Anglo-American Establishment - the opaque power structure supervening over the Bank of International Settlements, the City of London - a political structure that has sat outside of control of the British crown for a thousand years, and Wall Street.

As an introduction to the intelligence community pillar, I invite any of you who may be feeling uncomfortably skeptical at this stage to whip out your phone and look up the entry for Operation Gladio on Wikipedia, so you can verify what I’m about to tell you about it.

THE ROGUE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY

Operation Gladio was a covert CIA operation established after World War II. The OSS, the precursor to the CIA, left behind American soldiers in Europe instead of withdrawing them, instructing them to hide weapons and remain in place until needed. The stated purpose was to combat communism and socialism, but the operation evolved into a network of covert, often terrorist, activities. These actions included bombings and assassinations in Italy and Germany, such as the 1980 Bologna train station bombing that killed 85 and injured 285, the 1989 assassination of a journalist investigating the operation, and the 1978 kidnapping and murder of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro.

These acts were allegedly designed to manipulate political outcomes by instilling fear and shifting public opinion. The operation, which involved a network of up to 20,000 operatives across Europe, was officially ended by George Bush Sr in 1990, who had previously administered it as Director of Central Intelligence. But its legacy persisted, with some individuals imprisoned for terrorist acts later being released due to evidence implicating the CIA.

The theoretical termination of Operation Gladio cannot be read as any meaningful circumscription of intelligence community activity. What had happened by 1990 is that the CIA had become adept at circumventing laws limiting its overseas activity. It did this by commandeering cut-out organisations such as USAID and the NED - the National Endowment for Democracy. It augmented state funding of these cut-outs by way of capturing foundations, such as the Brookings Institute, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

The signs of such institutional capture are far from subtle. For example, Bill Burns, who ran the Carnegie Endowment for seven years, left it to become the current Director of the CIA, suggesting substantial overlap between the two.

COLOUR REVOLUTIONS’ INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY LINKS

Since 1990, a long string of regime change activities - the so-called “colour revolutions” have been conducted, allegedly involving the CIA, USAID, and the NED.

• The Rose Revolution in Georgia (2003) was preceded by USAID and NED funding and organizational support for computerizing voter rolls, supporting opposition parties and NGOs, and training and funding youth groups inspired by the Yugoslav Otpor! Movement. Another colour revolution has been more or less permanently underway since 2023.

• Before the Orange Revolution in Ukraine (2004–2005) they funded “pro-democracy” non-governmental organizations supporting the “pro-democracy movement, with Ron Paul citing $60 million in funding through cut-out NGOs. Similar actions were observed around the Ukrainian Euromaidan protests (2013–2014).

• And one can tell similar stories about the Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan (2005), the Cedar Revolution in Lebanon (2005),the Arab Spring (2010s), the Sunflower Movement in Taiwan (2014), the 2020 protests in Belarus, the 2022 protests in Peru, the 2014 protests in Egypt, the 2016 protests in Brazil that led to the impeachment of President Rousseff, the 2020 protests in Bolivia that led to the resignation of President Evo Morales, the 2007 Saffron Revolution in Myanmar and the 2009 Green Revolution in Iran.

I’ve cited a dozen already. There are more, and the story of USAID and NED intervention in South Africa alone could be the subject of a whole talk. These are not isolated incidents. They constitute evidence of an intelligence community that has the resources and capability to ensure that virtually every nation on earth - with perhaps five exceptions in total - is bent to the will of the establishment trajectory.

To close the loop on the intelligence community chapter of this, in perhaps comical fashion, Victoria Nuland, the high priestess of US regime change actions, who was closely connected to the two-decade destruction of the Ukraine that is still so tragically underway, was last month appointed as a director of the National Endowment for Democracy. You can’t make it up. I’ll also add that it is my belief that the intelligence communities of the US, the UK and Israel have formed a more-or-less merged criminal entity for most of the last century, and that it has been many decades since it was last possible to expect them to act congruently with their supposed sponsor-country interests.

THE BANK OF INTERNATIONAL SETTLEMENTS

I turn now to the world of the Bank of International Settlements. Earlier this year, while explaining how this seldom heard of organization bears down on humanity, I wrote the following in response to a question about remarks made by President Carney of Canada:

“The Anglo-American establishment, using its de facto control over the City of London, will cause the Bank of International Settlements to amend the Basel regulatory framework so that corporate lending rates and even access to loans will depend on compliance with net zero objectives. They will sweep up countries via loan conditions implanted by the IMF and World Bank. All of this will circumvent sovereignty and democratic processes. And all of this is in the name of an entirely fake crisis and involves renewables projects that are truly staggering in their corruption.

When those renewables projects flop financially, the terms and conditions of those “investments” will leave ownership of the assets in establishment hands, and they will use that position to charge everyone more and more for less and less reliable power, milking humanity dry while laughing all the way to the bank.”

This summarizes well how the BIS takes direct actions, but it also wields power in the corridors of subsidiary policy makers. The key ones worth mentioning are the Club of Rome, the Council for Foreign Relations, Chatham House, the Rockefeller Foundation, the World Economic Forum, and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Collectively, these entities treat national governments as merely the enforcement arms for globalist policies. Who can forget Klaus Schwab’s idle boast, “Vee penetrate zee cabinets”.

DO THESE TWO PILLARS MEET AT THE TOP?

Comprehensive argument that they do can be found in books such as Carol Quigley’s The Anglo-American Establishment, Adam LeBor’s Tower of Basel, Macgregor and Dowd’s Two World Wars and Hitler and David Hughes’ Wall Street, the Nazis and the Crimes of the Deep State.

But it was the covid phenomenon that furnished the best evidence, with its lockstep implementation of novel and hitherto advised against policies and mandates, its institutionally elaborate suppression of dissent.

Although the public was led to believe that the US Department of Health and Human Services, and its organs, the Centre for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health, was performing its expected role, Anthony Fauci was mere window dressing. Behind the scenes, it was the intelligence community, operating through the Department of Defense, that held power. What mainstream media completely failed to mention was that Pfizer’s contract had nothing to do with conducting clinical trials of vaccine, but about proving production capability for a biological countermeasure.

In a whistleblower case alleging that the trials that were reported to HHS had been invalidly conducted, Pfizer’s successful defence was that, in terms of its military contract, it was under no obligation to conduct valid clinical trials. So the trials were a sham and a fraud, and with that little bit of tinsel in the window dressing, a novel genetic treatment was plunged into billions of arms. Those injections have been a disaster, involving mortality and morbidity rates much more significant than those of the purported SARS-CoV-2 virus, but media control has been intense and governments all over the world have stonewalled attempts get to the population-level data.

Just last week, the UK’s creepily renamed Health Security Agency refused to publish data that would tie excess deaths to the injections, arguing that this would lead to “distress or anger” on the part of bereaved relatives, risking “damaging the wellbeing and mental health of the families and friends of people who died”.

One of the key ways this lockstep pursuit of irrational and untested mandates and injections was enforced, was financial. Countries that locked down ran up huge deficits, and loans to finance them were simply made dependent on ongoing implementation of the measures. So I think the inference that there is an opaque common control structure operating at a level above both the Bank of International Settlement and the intelligence community, both of which are simply enforcement arms, is hard to negate.

WHAT LIES AHEAD?

Possessed of sufficient time I would have taken you through the burgeoning and labyrinthine architecture that sees data from intelligence community surveillance infrastructure fed into a systems-based decision-making apparatus that enables algorithmic, “scientific” governance to replace democratic deliberation, and how a web of treaties and accords render national government powerless to resist this. I would also love to dilate on the role that South African leaders like Rhodes and Smuts played in establishing the seminal bodies that developed the slowly encroaching technocracy.

Suffice it to say that what remains of national and individual sovereignty is largely illusory. Their ultimate removal can only be averted by a massive awakening to the realities of the trap being set. From what I see, that awakening is far from happening for most people. I see people thinking about South Africa and wishing that “if only the ANC would do this, or the DA would do that”. But that is to be operating at a level of extraordinary naivety.

Similarly, to believe that Trump’s victory over Harris is going to save us is deeply foolish. History doesn’t offer much hope. It seems always to have been the case that an inexorable rise in centralisation and the size of the state is solved only by systemic collapse. Given the fragility of the global system of supply chains and financing, that is a tough outcome to wish for, but it is a certain outcome.

The problems of centralisation are never solved by the presence of more data or faster processing of it. The optimism I cling to is that humans are adept at solving problems, and the conditions of freedom under which knowledge generation can occur have not yet entirely been snuffed out.

The official COVID inquiry claims Britain did “too little, too late.” The data tells a different story entirely.

My statistical analysis of ONS mortality data reveals something the inquiry conveniently ignores: excess deaths occur precisely during intervention periods. The first lockdown. The vaccine rollout. Not before. Not after. Just during government action.

Every birth cohort shows the same pattern. Fit a polynomial model to expected deaths, compare to actual deaths, and the red and blue boxes marking intervention periods light up like a crime scene. Outside these windows? No statistically significant excess mortality.

The COVID Physician’s account from the NHS frontline tells the same story through a different lens. Working across multiple practices covering 16,000 patients, he saw almost no COVID deaths during the supposedly apocalyptic spring of 2020. What he did see: elderly patients denied hospital admission, cancer diagnoses delayed by months, treatable infections ignored because “temperature equals COVID equals stay home.”

He had the easiest three months of his NHS career during lockdown. Not because the virus was mild, but because government policy turned the health service into a dystopian triage system that abandoned its core mission. His practices recorded five total COVID-associated deaths. All over 60, with comorbidities. Meanwhile, how many died from delayed cancer treatment? Untreated sepsis? Medical neglect wrapped in “protecting the NHS”?

The numbers match the narrative. The timeline betrays the lie. SARS-CoV-2 was declassified as a highly contagious infectious disease on March 19th - days before lockdown. The testing regime was scientifically absurd from the start - PCR tests developed before the virus was properly isolated, run at amplifications guaranteed to generate false positives. Tanzanian samples of pawpaw and tortoise tested positive.

This wasn’t medicine. This wasn’t public health. It was theatre. And the excess deaths prove it.

The inquiry won’t acknowledge what the data screams: doing more, sooner would have killed even more people. Because the deaths weren’t from COVID. They were from lockdown. From panic. From a medical establishment that suspended basic clinical judgment and blindly followed political diktat.

Next time they tell you the government should have done more, remember: the macro data and the micro experience both point to the same conclusion.

Government intervention was the pandemic. The “cure” was worse than the “disease”.

Part 4 - Arctic Ice Cover Analysis: A Comprehensive Data Review

• Little Ice Age: The data shows a notable peak in sea ice extent during this period, representing one of the most significant ice expansion events in recent millennia

• Medieval Warm Period: A distinct reduction in sea ice extent occurred during this historical warm period

• 20th Century: Current conditions appear within the range of natural variability observed throughout the Holocene

Data Characteristics:

The graph demonstrates that current low sea ice levels are not unprecedented when viewed in the context of the full Holocene record.

Data from November 1978 through October 2020 shows the standardized anomaly trends for both polar regions. The analysis reveals divergent patterns between the Arctic and Antarctic.

The red line (Antarctic) shows considerable variability but maintains relatively stable conditions throughout the period. The blue line (Arctic) displays a downward trend, particularly pronounced after 2005.

Both datasets show substantial year-to-year variability, indicating that natural fluctuations remain a significant component of sea ice dynamics even in the modern era.

NOAA 2017 Data: Percent Difference Analysis

NOAA data from 2017 presents percent difference measurements for March and September sea ice extent spanning from 1979 to approximately 2016.

March Measurements (Black Line):

• Generally ranged between +5% and -5% throughout the period

• Shows relatively stable conditions with moderate variability

• Displays much greater variability compared to March

The seasonal comparison reveals that September (end of melt season) measurements show significantly more variability and more pronounced changes than March (end of growth season) measurements.

Historical Climate Context: The 1985 DOE Report

A 1985 Department of Energy report titled “Projecting the Climatic Effects of Increasing Carbon Dioxide” provides crucial historical perspective on Arctic sea ice extent projections and understanding.

Sea Ice Extent Chart Analysis:

The report includes a graph showing sea ice extent from approximately 1925 to 1975, featuring both annual mean and 5-year running mean data. The chart demonstrates:

• Sea ice extent around 1925: approximately 7.0 x 10⁶ km²

• Significant decline through the 1930s and 1940s

• Minimum extent reached around 1945: approximately 6.0 x 10⁶ km²

• Recovery period from 1945 through 1965

• Peak extent around 1965: approximately 7.0 x 10⁶ km²

The decline observed from approximately 1965 through 1979 occurred during a period when climate scientists were concerned about global cooling, not warming.

Historical Arctic Sea Ice Data from IPCC 1990

The IPCC First Assessment Report (1990) included data on Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere sea ice extent anomalies. Figure 7.20 from this report shows sea ice extent anomaly measured in 10⁶ km².

Key Observation:

The data shows that 1979 represented a period of relatively high sea ice extent. This is significant because 1979 is commonly used as the baseline year for modern satellite measurements of Arctic sea ice. Using a high point as a baseline naturally makes subsequent measurements appear as declines, even if they represent returns to more typical historical levels.

Conclusion

This analysis reveals several critical findings:

1. Natural Variability: Arctic sea ice has exhibited substantial natural variability throughout the Holocene period, with the Medieval Warm Period showing low ice extent and the Little Ice Age showing high ice extent.

2. Historical Context: The 10,000-year record demonstrates that current conditions, while representing a decline from recent peaks, are not unprecedented in the longer geological context.

3. Baseline Issues: The choice of 1979 as a baseline for modern measurements is problematic, as this year represented a local maximum in sea ice extent following a period of recovery from mid-century lows.

4. Pre-Industrial Variability: Significant Arctic sea ice variations occurred throughout the 20th century, including major declines in the 1920s-1940s, well before the period of intensive industrialization and CO₂ emissions.

5. Correlation vs. Causation: The strong correlation (R = 0.85) between various sea ice metrics over millennial timescales suggests that natural forcing mechanisms have played dominant roles in Arctic ice dynamics throughout the Holocene.

I suppose you’ve seen the headlines of the monumental waste of tax payer money spent on the official inquiry?

Inevitably, they come to the utterly false conclusion that intervening more would have saved more lives. Apart from the fact that the BBC reported it, we also know it’s false because they couldn’t possibly have looked at reliable mortality analysis.

How do I know? For starters, because I had to pay privately for the only reliable data set myself, so the ONS certainly didn’t use it. I have analysed every daily death occurrence of every native English and Welsh man and woman, isolated by year of birth. This is the only way to eliminate all the known biases that affect the raw data - net migration, demography, different birth cohort sizes, reporting delays.

The modelling thereafter is simple. You can fit pretty much any reasonable curve to the data. I chose 4-order polynomials. This gives me an “expected” death curve. Take the difference between actual deaths and expected deaths and you have… unexpected deaths. This is the only measure of lives saved - or caused, as you will see…

In the first chart below, I show the actual deaths vs the model deaths - not spurious Ferguson-type modelling, empirical modelling! Here are females born in 1930 by way of example - because it is quite appallingly obvious.

Pretty good fit, right? The black line through the middle is the 4-order polynomial model, the “expected deaths”. The grey noise around it is the actual deaths, showing obvious seasonal patterns.

Then, we can zoom in on 2020-2021 for unexpected or “excess” deaths that we are all now way too familiar with:

In each case, the red box spans the first lockdown - essentially the massive reduction of health and social care1. The blue box represents the second lockdown plus “vaccine” mania. You can clearly see who “killed granny”? It wasn’t her grandkids. Rather it was not seeing them and being denied essential medical care - iatrogenesis. In my case, it’s not even hindsight - I called it at the time:

In every case (different sexes, birth cohorts), you will see the same pattern - all the unexpected death occurs during the intervention periods. There is no statistically significant evidence of unexpected death outside of these two periods - none.

What can we conclude from this? The only reasonable explanation is that Government policy resulted in pretty much all the unexpected deaths.

DOING MORE, SOONER WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN EVEN MORE DEATH

It might be worth remembering this - “next time”?!

Part 3 - The Strange Case of the “Disappearing” Snow

How a confident year 2000 forecast about vanishing snowfall compares to what actually happened.

On March 20, 2000, The Independent published a striking headline that would become one of climate science’s most quotable predictions: “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.”

The article featured Dr. David Viner from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, who made a bold forecast: within just a few years, snowfall would become “a very rare and exciting event.” The report went further, claiming that “children just aren’t going to know what snow is.”

It was a clear, confident prediction about our climate future. So what actually happened?

What the Data Shows

Let’s start with the Northern Hemisphere snow extent data covering November through April, measured from the 1960s through the 2012-13 winter season.

The measurements reveal snow extent fluctuating between approximately 38.0 and 42.0 million square kilometers throughout this period. Rather than showing a declining trend, the data demonstrates considerable year-to-year variability with a cyclical pattern. Most notably, the record coverage occurred in 2012-13, the highest snow extent in the entire measurement period.

Fast forward to more recent measurements, and the picture becomes even more intriguing.

Record Snow in Recent Years

By the end of November in recent years, Northern Hemisphere snow extent has reached levels among the highest recorded in 56 years of systematic measurement. Current data shows snow extent running consistently higher than historical averages - a stark contrast to predictions of disappearing snow.

November 2022 provides a particularly clear example. That month, Northern Hemisphere snow extent reached approximately 41 million square kilometers according to NOAA/Rutgers Global Snow Lab data. The visualization of weekly snow cover extent for the 2022-2023 winter season shows measurements significantly exceeding both the historical mean (marked by the gray dashed line) and often approaching or exceeding the historical maximum (blue line) rather than trending toward the minimum (orange line).

These extensive snow coverage levels have real-world implications for winter forecasts, particularly in Europe, where such measurements serve as important parameters for seasonal prediction models.

The Reality

Today’s children are not growing up in a snow-free world. They’re experiencing snow in abundance, engaging in the same winter activities generations before them enjoyed. The empirical reality stands in direct contradiction to the confident forecasts made two decades ago.

This isn’t to say climate isn’t changing but it does highlight something important about the nature of prediction versus observation. When dramatic forecasts made with certainty don’t match what subsequently happens in the real world, it raises necessary questions about our forecasting methods, our confidence levels, and our ability to project complex climate systems decades into the future.

The contrast between the 2000 prediction and measured outcomes illustrates several key points:

1. First, climate systems exhibit natural variability that can dwarf or mask longer-term trends over multi-decade timescales. The cyclical patterns visible in the snow extent data demonstrate this complexity.

2. Second, confident short-term predictions (within “a few years”) about climate phenomena have proven remarkably difficult to get right. The snow hasn’t disappeared; in fact, recent measurements show it at near-record levels.

3. Third, and perhaps most importantly, actual observational data must remain our primary guide. When predictions diverge significantly from measurements, the measurements win. That’s how science is supposed to work.

None of this makes climate science invalid or unnecessary. It does, however, remind us to maintain appropriate humility about our ability to forecast complex systems far into the future and to remain skeptical of dramatic predictions that don’t align with what we can observe and measure.

The snow, it turns out, didn’t get the memo about disappearing. Our children still know exactly what it is.

This is my response to the consultation invitation (by 29/1/26) on “Scotland’s Draft Climate Change Plan: 2026–2040”. By proxy, it doubles as my dissection of the economy-wrecking UK-wide Net Zero agenda. The 31-page draft plan is available here with all relevant documents here.

Introduction

I have been campaigning since the 1990s against what I now call the climate change hoax. Over the years I have written to multiple MPs, MSPs and others trying to persuade them that their climate change policies and associated energy policies are misguided, futile and extremely damaging.

For all my efforts, I never once received a credible reply to justify their policies. Replies were typically pure boilerplate such as: “we have to show climate leadership … the science is settled … 97% of scientists agree … we are in a climate emergency … renewables are cheap, clean and secure”.

In other words, nothing but disinformation, distortion and denial of true science and engineering. Decades of politician replies always conforming to the obviously-dishonest “officially approved” narrative is proof that, for a malign deep state ulterior reason, the Net Zero agenda has always been a globally-coordinated deceit to mislead and bamboozle the general public, just like Covid.

The ministerial foreword to this plan is a typical example of intelligence-insulting climate codswallop. Unpacking every distortion and unfounded assertion would be a tedious and futile task. Is she bad (a treasonous Globalist puppet) or is she mad (having swallowed the Globalists’ false propaganda)?

I belatedly realised during the Covid “plandemic/scamdemic” that trying to influence Uniparty politicians (Lab, Con, Lib Dem, SNP, Greens) on Globalist-mandated issues was futile. I switched to trying to influence the general public, i.e. voters, through open letters aimed at gaining online circulation. I expect this response will be dismissed as usual, but hopefully it will get some online traction. The tyrannical, unaccountable UN would censor it as climate denial disinformation, if they could.

Summary

Net Zero has given us sky-high energy costs which are crippling business, rapidly hollowing out our industrial capacity and suffocating economic growth, all to no useful purpose. It has to be stopped.

The Scottish Government should never have embarked on its own Net Zero project in the first place. Energy is not even a devolved issue in Scotland and any progress (or the lack of it) is almost wholly dependent on UK government actions. Scotland is not included in world databases such as on national CO2 emissions and energy consumption, which makes it difficult to monitor progress.

For example, I suspect that the boastful statistics put out by the Scottish Government on the performance of Scotland’s domestic renewables-heavy intermittent electricity supply do not take proper account of the essential, largely fossil fuel balancing and backup electricity received from England. It’s all as silly as, say, similarly-populated Yorkshire having its own Net Zero project.

The delusion that Scotland can achieve Net Zero by 2045 is proof that Scottish Net Zero is a bureaucratic going-nowhere shambles. 16 years after Scotland enacted its Climate Change Act, here we are with supposedly just 20 years to go with a hopelessly wishful-thinking draft plan that only extends to 2040! Even the Lib Dem party, all 72 of whose foolish MPs voted earlier this year for the suicidal Climate and Nature Bill, has switched its virtue-signaling Net Zero 2045 target to still delusional 2050.

Future historians will find it hard to believe that Scotland and so many other countries were taken in on such an overarching, society-upending scale by such an obvious Globalist deception.

I suspect that the reason why the Globalist-captured Uniparty is so committed to UN-instigated Net Zero is because it is the bedrock of the UN’s tyrannical Agenda 2030 (a 3-minute overview). The Globalists and their complicit Uniparty puppets hope to use this agenda as a pretext to control all global resources (follow the money!) and subjugate the global populace.

They hope to enforce control through an enslaving mandatory Digital Id, as beta trialed via Covid vaccine passports. These are already being rolled out by the authoritarian control freaks of Starmer’s government, of the EU, various other countries and the UN itself. The USA has wisely opted out of both Net Zero and Agenda 2030 (and the UN’s pandemic-pushing WHO) and the UK should do likewise.

Dependence on the UK is the Achilles Heel of Scotland’s Net Zero because UK Net Zero will hopefully be ditched after the next general election. If they have any sense, the Scottish Government will disregard the endless blather of COP30, note the IEA’s return to energy reality, note the rising tide of opposition to Net Zero around the world, accept that Net Zero is a dead duck and drop their damaging Net Zero plans.

Debunking the climate change hoax

Striving to reduce CO2 emissions is a needless and pointless endeavour. Even if it were possible to eliminate Scotland’s miniscule ~0.1% share of global CO2 emissions, which it isn’t, that would have negligible impact on the global climate even if the unvalidated hypothesis of man-made CO2 global warming were valid, which it isn’t.

In my May 2024 post Debunking the climate change hoax I gave a comprehensive account of how the Globalist establishment, working through compliant national politicians (the “Uniparty” in the UK), has for decades pulled the wool over the eyes of the general public on their confected scare of alleged man-made CO2 global warming, aka “climate change”. It’s an easy-to-read synthesis of the work of many experts and I defy the Scottish Government to refute its conclusions.

A simple analysis of the UAH satellite temperature series shows that man-made CO2 is having negligible (if any) impact on global temperatures. This is the only series which has not been corrupted by the global establishment to exaggerate warming in the global temperature record.

The series is dominated by natural warming spikes, all far too sudden to have been caused by man-made atmospheric CO2. The graph shows global temperature flatlining on average from 1998 to 2014 followed by a couple of warming El Ninos which had all but dissipated by the time the massive 2023 warming spike came along, caused by the combination of an El Nino and the MSM/Met Office-censored Hunga Tonga undersea volcanic eruption which exploded a huge quantity of water vapour, a potent greenhouse gas, high into the stratosphere and which has still not dissipated.

Discounting these natural events shows that there has been negligible “climate change” over the past 25 years. This means that the climate fearmongering put out by the Minister and climate propagandists like the lying BBC on alleged human-worsened extreme weather events has no credibility.

The Draft Plan Figure 1 shows Scottish emissions falling steadily from about 2000 to 2020, since when the trend has levelled out somewhat. UK emissions have followed a similar trend, as shown in this Our World In Data graph which very plainly shows the utter futility of attempting unilateral UK Net Zero.

Uniparty politicians never admit that emission reductions to date have come about largely from unrepeatable “low hanging fruit” expedients such as the Dash for Gas, self-rationing to save money (heat or eat) and deindustrialisation, i.e. the forced offshoring of businesses and jobs (and the emissions to produce and deliver the replacement imports!) as a direct result of our sky-high Net Zero energy costs.

The Draft Plan projections for future emissions reductions from 2026 to 2040 are pie in the sky. You are not going to coerce the already hard-pressed populace to adopt expensive unwanted heat pumps (not currently mandated) or other “clean energy” heating systems; nor expensive user-unfriendly EVs or rationed travel; nor will you reduce energy emissions to almost zero by deploying “bonkers” carbon capture and storage; and hopelessly-expensive green hydrogen is never going to take off.

Your Net Zero strivings are hugely damaging to the productivity of the economy as they divert valuable manpower, resources and money into building and maintaining two parallel energy systems, one of which, based on so-called renewables, is very expensive, not at all “green”, insecure, unsustainable and totally redundant. There is nothing “just” about your wrecking-ball “transition” to energy penury.

Debunking Net Zero, the supposed “solution” to climate change

The “cat out of the bag” UK FIRES project spelled out the impoverishing, nihilistic, anti-humanity reality of absolute Net Zero, exposed in this post. This trend is confirmed by the shocking statistic that 33% of Scottish households are currently in fuel poverty.

In August this year I published The Charade of Net Zero which gives a short debunking of the engineering aspects of our Net Zero energy malinvestments. It shows that the UK could not hope to “transition” to Net Zero before sometime next century (most probably never). It lists examples of UK and Scottish deindustrialisation caused by the Uniparty’s self-flagellating Net Zero policies which will inevitably only get worse through ongoing ruinously-expensive Net Zero malinvestments.

It describes the April 2025 pan-Iberia power blackout which caused multiple deaths and a day of nationwide chaos, yet the Net Zero-obsessed authorities never saw it coming. It has been put down to the inherent lack of inertia of wind and solar power systems and confirmed that such renewables are dangerously incompatible with the way the electricity grid was designed to operate. It strongly suggests that the already-struggling Net Zero holy grail of grid decarbonisation is an engineering impossibility.

Independent energy consultant Kathryn Porter has done excellent work on analysing and documenting such hitherto “swept under the carpet” grid frailties. Her full body of public work is available here.

Of particular relevance to Scottish Net Zero, Kathryn Porter notes in a recent post that Scotland is allowing its national grid to become dangerously unbalanced. The problem is that when the Torness nuclear power station is closed down for good, the Scottish grid will be supplied overwhelmingly by fickle renewables with very little conventional inertia to provide resilience against a potential cascading nationwide grid shutdown. Clueless Sturgeon should never have been allowed to blow up Longannet.

We also face the danger that a heavily decarbonised grid could have insufficient dispatchable backup supplies to cope with Dunkelflautes, days or even weeks on end of next to no wind and sun in cold, dark midwinter when power is needed most. Supplies from interconnectors will be uncertain when such weather systems extend into the continent. Controlled, possibly prolonged power cuts appear inevitable and these could start quite soon if Uniparty Net Zero sleepwalking continues.

The establishment “green blob” puts out a constant stream of disinformation and blatant lies on the costs of Net Zero and “NOT cheap, UNclean and INsecure” weather dependent renewables, aided and abetted by the provenly-dishonest BBC. Net Zero for Dummies, a parody post with sub headlines: How to make the most expensive electricity in the world; How to crash the economy; How to export jobs to China; How to be a laughing stock on the world stage.

UK electricity prices are the highest in the world, Oct 2024 and still true: “… the UK has the highest domestic electricity prices in the IEA, some 80% above the median … UK prices are 2.8 times those of the US and 3.5 times prices in Korea. Prices in Germany are slightly lower than the UK, with France’s prices just above the IEA median.” [The 2023 UK industrial electricity price was around a shocking 4 times higher than Canada and the USA. How can UK industry hope to compete?]

Why is my energy bill so high? This debunks the false establishment narrative that our high electricity bills are due to having conventional gas [“dependent on dictators like Putin”, distorts Miliband while sabotaging North Sea oil and gas and buying in costly LNG from abroad] in the electricity generation mix rather than green blob-supported all-renewables. It also lists all the reasons why renewables are so expensive. [Kathryn Porter manages to debunk the lies in 90 seconds.] It refers to the “Trolley Problem” and the survival choice dilemma of sacrificing either the green blob or society (it’s a no-brainer).

Net Zero crumbling slowly at first, then suddenly This documents how the hitherto all-party electorate-disenfranchising consensus on Net Zero is thankfully now collapsing.

Mitigating the risks of Net Zero This is relevant to the situation the Scottish Government will find itself in when UK Net Zero is finally abandoned. I’ll finish by imagining how the “trolley problem” dilemma might unfold in my own neck of the woods.

For months we locals have watched massively expensive construction and dredging works to prepare the nearby Port of Ardersier for use as a manufacturing hub for China’s Ming Yang company to build and supply outrageously-expensive floating offshore wind farm projects, if finally consented.

The floating wind subsidy alone, excluding all the associated additional costs which get added to our bills, is about 3.5 times the price of conventional gas generation which is itself burdened by a ~32% “carbon tax” which ought to be scrapped.

Local sentiment towards the development soured when we learned that it would despoil 36 sq km of our littoral starting just 1 km offshore for use as a staging area for wind turbine foundations. Concern has been expressed on the loss of amenity, the impact on fishing and the local dolphins, the national security aspects of China’s involvement in this project and over-dependence on China in general.

It looks as if UK Net Zero will be cancelled before long which makes this extortionate and pointless wind farm project a prime candidate for being cancelled by the next UK government, if legally possible. The developers and Ming Yang might be wise to cut their losses sooner rather than later.

What Medieval Megadroughts Tell Us About Today’s Headlines - a data-driven examination of extreme weather claims through the lens of centuries of evidence.

The reservoir photos always follow the same script: cracked earth, exposed dead trees, dramatically lowered waterlines. The headlines scream crisis. “Drought: The New Reality of Climate Change.”

Yes, reservoirs drop during dry periods - they’re designed to be used. But something more interesting lurks beneath these breathless reports: the uncomfortable truth that our ancestors endured far worse, for far longer, without a single SUV in sight.

The Megadroughts We’ve Conveniently Forgotten

E.R. Cook’s tree ring analysis in Earth-Science Reviews reconstructs drought patterns across the American West from 800 A.D. to 2000. The findings are sobering for anyone invested in the “unprecedented crisis” narrative.

During the Medieval period (800-1300 A.D.), the West suffered through two abnormally dry spells lasting nearly 200 years each. These weren’t temporary inconveniences, they were civilisation-altering megadroughts that make our current dry spells look like minor scheduling conflicts.

The pre-1850 period shows multiple natural drought events with severity that dwarfs anything in living memory. The 20th century? Actually wetter than normal. Those recent years marked “man-made” on contemporary charts barely register compared to what nature routinely served up for centuries.

Drier periods dominated earlier centuries, wetter periods characterise recent times. Historical droughts were substantially more severe than today’s events.

Britain’s Forgotten Dry Centuries

The UK’s drought chronology tells a similar story. Major events include:

• 1765-1768, 1798-1808 (an entire decade), 1854-1860, 1887-1888,

  1890-1909 (nearly two decades), 1921-1922, 1933-1934, 1959

• 1976 (the one everyone remembers, even me), 1990-1992, 1995-1997

Notice the pattern? The longest, most severe droughts cluster in the 18th and 19th centuries. Recent decades look positively wet by comparison.

What Global Data Actually Shows

The State of the Climate 2019 report examined global drought indices from 1950-2019, tracking the percentage of land (excluding ice sheets and deserts) experiencing moderate (≤ -2), severe (≤ -3), and extreme (≤ -4) drought conditions.

The findings revealed that drought-affected areas have remained remarkably stable throughout the 70-year period. No clear increasing trend. Natural variability remains dominant. The year 2019, highlighted in the analysis, shows no exceptional deviation from historical patterns.

If catastrophic climate change were driving unprecedented drought conditions, this is precisely where we’d expect to see it but we don’t.

The Wildfire Illusion: How Short Memories Create False Crises

“California’s wildfire hell: how 2020 became the state’s worst ever fire season.”

“California exceeds 4 million acres burned by wildfires in 2020.”

The headlines were apocalyptic. Fire officials proclaimed this unprecedented. More than 4,200 fires. Cumulative totals double the previous record.

Then you look at the actual historical data from the National Interagency Fire Center.

The 1920s-1940s: Peak wildfire activity burned 40-50 million acres annually.

The 1950s-1970s: Declining trend.

The 1980s-2010s: Historically low levels, most years under 10 million acres.

2017: One-fifth of record levels.

When you plot recent years against historical data, contemporary wildfire activity sits far below mid-20th century norms. The “worst ever fire season” claim only holds if you conveniently ignore everything before 1980.

The 400-Year Perspective: When Forests Burned Without Help

Thomas Swetnam’s 2016 study in Philosophical Transactions B tracked wildfire incidence in North America from 1600-2000, demonstrating it’s all about human management.

1600-1800: High natural wildfire frequency with massive variability.

1700s-1800s: Multiple major fire years that make 2020 look tame.

1850: California achieves statehood - a critical turning point.

Post-1850: Livestock grazing and fire suppression era begins.

1900-2000: Dramatic decline in wildfire incidence due to human fire management.

The downward trend is unmistakable. Historical fire activity was substantially higher than contemporary levels. The primary driver of change? Human land management practices - livestock grazing, fire suppression - not climate factors.

The Global Picture: Half a Century of Decline

Bjorn Lomborg’s analysis of global burned area from 1901-2018 provides the final nail in the coffin of wildfire alarmism.

Percentage of global land burned annually:

• 1900-1950: Relatively stable around 1.0-1.2%

• 1950-2000: Declining trend

• 2000-2018: Continued decline to approximately 0.6%

Global area burned by decade (millions of km²):

• 1900s: ~550 million

• 1910s: ~530 million

• 2000s: ~300 million

Global burned area has decreased by approximately 50% over the past century. This directly contradicts every narrative about increasing wildfire activity due to climate change.

What the Data Actually Tells Us

The empirical evidence is unambiguous:

On droughts: Historical events were significantly more severe and prolonged than contemporary ones. Medieval megadroughts lasted centuries. The 20th century was wetter than normal. Global indices show no clear increasing trend over 70 years.

On wildfires: Activity has declined dramatically over the past century. Current levels sit far below historical norms. The 1920s-1940s burned 4-5 times more acreage than recent years. Human management practices - fire suppression, land use changes - are the primary drivers of pattern changes.

On media narratives: They consistently emphasise recent events while lacking historical context. They treat natural variability as unprecedented crisis. They ignore inconvenient long-term data.

Contemporary drought and wildfire events, while certainly impactful to those affected, are not unprecedented. They generally fall within or below historical natural variability when examined over multi-century timescales.

The Uncomfortable Implication

If extreme weather isn’t getting worse - if droughts were more severe in the Medieval period, if wildfires burned far more acreage in the early 20th century, if global drought indices show no increasing trend - what does that say about the crisis narrative?

It suggests we’re being sold a story that serves political and institutional interests rather than reflects empirical reality. It suggests that climate alarm relies on historical amnesia. It suggests that when you actually examine the data rather than consume headlines, a very different picture emerges.

The evidence doesn’t support the claim that droughts and wildfires are unprecedented consequences of anthropogenic climate change. It supports the opposite conclusion: that current conditions are mild compared to natural historical variability, and that human management practices matter far more than atmospheric CO₂ levels.

Perhaps that’s why the historical context so rarely appears in mainstream climate coverage. It’s not that the data doesn’t exist - E.R. Cook’s tree ring analysis, the UK drought chronology, the National Interagency Fire Center records, Swetnam’s 400-year wildfire study, Lomborg’s global burned area analysis. It’s all published, peer-reviewed, readily available.

It’s just inconvenient to a narrative that depends on presenting the present as uniquely catastrophic.

I am serialising this excellent video by Paul Burgess from a couple of years ago, examining the evidence between extreme weather events and climate change.

Paul started his professional career as a young engineer working in the UK, Africa and Saudi Arabia. In 1970 he became Water Resources Engineer for River Authorities in Cornwall and Gwynedd before becoming responsible for planning water resources for the whole of Wales.

Paul developed his first climate models as far back as 1971; a workload that involved every aspect of the water cycle from weather stations to flood warnings and monitoring pollution incidents. Unable to tolerate the attitude of the nationalised water industry towards the public, he left to found his own businesses which concentrated on innovation using computer controlled systems to produce innovative products. His company won the Most Innovative Product In Wales Award and exported to some 33 countries throughout the world.

Since early childhood Paul has always been a keen environmentalist. Latterly, alarmed by the abuse of science and the censorship within the climate alarmist movement, he has made hundreds of videos and numerous media appearances on both Television and radio countering Net Zero policies and the corruption of science.

Part 1 - Wind and Heatwaves

Introduction

Common claims circulate that all extreme weather is getting worse and that human activity is to blame. However, a closer examination of the empirical evidence reveals that there is no scientific basis to link any individual weather event to human-caused climate change. This report examines hurricane and tornado data to assess whether extreme wind events are indeed increasing in frequency or intensity.

Hurricanes: The Evidence from Multiple Perspectives

The BBC Scare Documentary Prediction

A BBC program titled “The Scare” presented a theory about hurricanes and climate change. The documentary suggested that more clouds would reflect sunlight back into space and cool the planet. This represents one of the many climate predictions that have been made over the years regarding how atmospheric changes might affect weather patterns.

Global Accumulated Cyclone Energy Analysis

2020 Compared to Historical Average

An analysis of Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) for 2020 compared to long-term averages reveals important trends across different ocean basins:

Atlantic Basin:

• 1933: approximately 250 units

• 2020: approximately 175 units

• Average: approximately 100 units

North Pacific Basin:

• 2020: approximately 220 units

• Average: approximately 400 units

North Indian Ocean:

• 2020: approximately 20 units

• Hurricane numbers fluctuate between approximately 30 and 70 hurricanes per year

• Major hurricanes show even greater variability, ranging from approximately 10 to 35 per year

• No clear upward trend is visible in either category

• The data shows natural cyclical patterns rather than sustained increases

• Recent years (2018-2021) show values consistent with the long-term average, not elevated extremes. This contemporary analysis confirms that hurricane frequency has remained relatively stable over the past four decades, contradicting claims of dramatic increases in storm activity.

Tornadoes and Climate Change

The Scare Documentary’s Cautious Position

“The Scare” documentary addresses tornadoes with notable caution. The presentation acknowledges: “Tornadoes and Climate Change” “Climate change will likely make extreme weather events more common. Some types of weather are easy to attribute to climate change. But with tornadoes, things are a bit more complicated.” The documentary then adds a critical qualifier: “Alarmists claims become ‘a bit more complicated’ when evidence shows the exact opposite.” This statement recognizes that the data on tornadoes does not support the narrative of increasing extreme weather due to climate change.

While some forms of extreme weather may be changing, the specific categories of hurricanes, tornadoes, and extreme heat show either stable trends or declining intensity when examined over long time periods. This emphasizes the importance of examining actual empirical data rather than relying on predictions or selective short-term observations when assessing climate-related trends.

By “exclusive”, of course, they mean they are the first in the MSM to report it because the actual story is many years old.

TL;DR

The development of Niimi™ was inspired by recent work on relational intelligence systems, particularly the research by Stevens, K. et al. (2025) on what they call “verse-ality”: a framework that treats intelligence not as a single brain or program, but as something that emerges through relationships between different parts of a system.

Their key insight: intelligence isn’t just about processing power. It’s about how well different parts of a system communicate, remember, and adapt together.

Niimi™ applies a similar principle, but through a neuroanatomical lens: rather than abstract symbolic layers, Niimi™ uses seven agents modeled on actual brain structures, each with a specialized role in perception, memory, emotion, decision-making, and response.

Where verse-ality focuses on meaning and symbolic resonance, Niimi™ focuses on cognitive function and embodied intelligence. Both frameworks recognize that intelligence is distributed, relational, and emergent, not centralized or purely computational.

Neuroscience has revealed that human cognition isn’t a single, unified process but rather an ensemble of specialized systems working in concert. The prefrontal cortex plans and coordinates. The limbic system attaches emotional significance and consolidates memories. The motor cortex executes actions. The insula monitors for errors and boundary violations. The temporal networks generate creative associations and explore possibilities.

These systems don’t operate independently - they’re deeply interconnected, constantly sharing information and influencing each other’s processing. But each maintains its distinct functional role. This architecture isn’t incidental; it’s the reason human intelligence is robust, adaptive, and context-sensitive.

As Marvin Minsky argued in his seminal work The Society of Mind (1986), intelligence emerges from the interaction of multiple specialized processes, not from a single powerful reasoning engine. Modern neuroscience has vindicated this insight, mapping the specific neural systems that correspond to different cognitive functions.

Niimi™ takes this principle seriously: if we want AI systems that exhibit human-like intelligence - not just language fluency - we need to implement analogous cognitive architectures.

Neurological Basis: Prefrontal cortex, particularly dorsolateral and ventromedial regions

Function in Niimi™: Cortex is the only user-facing agent, handling all external communication and serving as the system’s executive coordinator. Niimi’s Cortex agent implements this same principle: it holds the conversational context, understands the user’s current objectives, and orchestrates the other agents to achieve those objectives.

As an Independent MP Candidate, I’ve advocated for transparency in governance and active youth engagement, embodying my commitment to integrity and service. My dedication is reflected in creating a manifesto focused on prioritizing the people, ensuring government accountability, and cutting bureaucracy for a ‘better Britain’.

At the UK General Election 2024 I stood as Huntingdon’s INDEPENDENT Member of Parliament with the theme of Changing Britain For Good, giving 100% commitment to serve The People (not any party or external interests) and help fix ‘broken’ Britain. As The Truth about Obama’s coup against The American People is further exposed, it’s now time for The British People to understand how gravely our government and media deceived the UK about President Trump - and their nefarious intentions against Britain.

Brits aren’t necessarily the most gullible people, but we’re near the top of the list. This stems from our high-trust culture, derived solely from our JudaeoChristian heritage. Centuries of belief in a Creator who loves, cares, has a purpose for us, and who holds us to account, unique to the JudaeoChristian tradition, have instilled a sense of wanting to believe others, especially when they are positions of authority.

Over the past sixty years the main channel of communication with us, through television, radio and newer technology has been the BBC, press and media. Overwhelmingly we have believed what they say, whether in news or documentary programmes.

And then there’s government in all its forms: Parliament, government institutions especially those giving information about health, climate, air pollution in cities like London, education of children about sexuality, the justice system. Britain’s traditional mindset has been that we can trust these.

No longer is this the case.

The BBC, irrespective of their denials, is systemically, institutionally and irreparably biased against Britain’s JudaeoChristian heritage, constitution, culture and values.

This has been proven beyond any shred of denial by that organisation’s deliberate manipulation of President Trump’s speech on January 6 2021. They intentionally lied to and misled the sovereign People of the UK, who pay their hefty salaries and have exposed us to a high-risk financial crisis with a $1Bn for their defamation of a sitting US President.

They have a long history of this going back to the 1960s, although the rot was setting in prior to that. See Robin Aitken’s seminal work ‘The Noble Liar - How and why the BBC distorts the truth to promote a Liberal Agenda.’ For the avoidance of doubt, that ‘Liberal Agenda’ is not a cause for celebration as it is antithetical to British values and has created the calamitous situation imperiling Britain in 2025.

There’s justification for many now describing the BBC as the British Broadcasting Cult. The BBC now is more than an embarrassment to Britain; it is a stain on our Nation’s reputation, integrity, humanity and international standing.

Then there is government. Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics all have been used to deceive The British People.

David Cameron, modelling himself on Tony Blair, continued Blair’s war on British democracy and our Constitution, his divisive policies and destruction of Human Rights through an ‘Equality’ Act.

That law has proven to create, not diminish, ‘equality’.

The resulting confusion from ‘Equality’ legislation, and the egregious conduct of taxpayer-funded institutions, including the NHS, universities and schools, police, courts and tribunals and even The Church of England, have severely impacted British Citizens. Many have lost jobs, income, homes, family life, careers, health, their futures and even their lives.

Surely, we ask, people must hear the alarm bells ringing when it takes The Supreme Court to state ‘What Is A Woman?’

Yet some public bodies are continuing their ideologically-driven attempts to crush employees who dare to acknowledge the veracity of the Court’s ruling. That’s quite apart from Common Sense which appears suddenly to have become in short supply in the body politic.

All of this takes us back to the Obama coup against President Trump in 2016.

The UK government, BBC and legacy media framed a narrative about the incoming and then sitting President of our closest ally, the USA, that, to this day, is believed by significant numbers of Brits.

It was false.

It was deliberately engineered.

They have intentionally misled and deceived The British People.

And they have continued to do so.

There will be severe consequences for those involved in the US.

Public trust there, as in Britain, has been deeply shaken. America and Britain are in a period of constitutional, cultural, social and spiritual crisis.

There is no guarantee that we will move forward into a good future for our children, grandchildren and those who will come after. The only way to ensure that we create a better future is to admit what has happened, which will be painful for many who will not want to accept that they have believed outright, gross lies by those they thought they could trust.

It’s even worse for these folk, because those lies supported their personal prejudices, in this case, against Donald Trump. 

There’s quite a list of falsehoods, including Project Fear over the so-called ‘pandemic’, the ensuing lockdowns and forced end-of-life for older people; the jabs that now are known to be lethal for some but over which there’s a continual cover-up; the real reason for the tragic conflict in Ukraine that was engineered by anti-democratic forces in 2014…

…the hoax about changing weather patterns that has enabled government to drive up our energy bills, make us poorer; what’s truly taking place in the Middle East; what those massive white lines in the sky are and what they’re doing to our atmosphere, crops, plants, wildlife and our own health…

What is very sad for these people is that they never stopped to check what they were being told but, rather, railed against those who presented an alternative to the narrative that they had accepted from government, the BBC and the legacy media.

But, if we are to bring about healing and restoration, there has to be a willingness on those who drank so freely of this poisoned propaganda to show some humility and face the facts.

As author and historian Richard J. Evan’s (2015) states:

“In Germany itself, of course, there was a real attempt to forget. People didn’t want to know about this. [It was] a kind of collective amnesia while the Germans got on with trying to rebuild their country.”

We must not forget what our government, the BBC and legacy media have done, not only on this matter, but several others.

There must be consequences, learning from why this was permitted and we must move into a period, not only of Reflection, but of Awakening, Revival, Restoration, Reformation and Renewal.

And history will remember it for what it was — a coup against the Republic itself.
