Insights from In Memoriam Burnley FC
Independent data can reveal truths that are not in the official sources.
I was drawn to Burnely FC’s in memoriam this year (it doesn’t matter why).
But curious as I am, I thought I would compare it to previous years.
The insight was quite unexpected.
In 2020, the year of the COVID epidemic, fewer Burnley FC supporters died than in 2019.
But in 2021, the tally rose by more than 50%, for all ages over 45.
Maybe it was climate change, too much exercise, stress, higher energy prices, healthy diet, bad diet, making the bed, paracetamol, cannabis, winter vagina (I kid you not), air pollution, too much pizza, energy drinks, too much sex, daylight saving time?
Did they have a lot of snow to shovel up there last year that I missed on the weather reports?
Is it lonely being a Burnley FC fan?
I can’t think of anything else. Please help me understand!
I wish for more science about "winter vagina."
I'm trying to do what I want my opponents to do, which is give an honest effort at explaining the data differently. How's this:
A lot of people put off a lot of medical care in 2020, including cancer screening, early treatment for, say, new-onset angina/cardiovascular disease, etc., and now some of those more-advanced-than-they'd-otherwise-have-been conditions have resulted in increased deaths. Perhaps people put off going to emergency rooms for, say, heart attacks in 2021 than 2020, for some reason, though it seems as if 2020 would have been the year to do that, if one were going to.
It doesn't seem like this is enough to explain all of it, though. (And I do believe the vax are killing people.)
