While your assessment is spot on, the emphasis on strict protection of the elderly (geriatric population in care homes) leaves that group vulnerable to another issue. They were and continue to be the most locked down. Some would choose it, some do not have cognition to choose but some would choose quality of life over potential risk of quantity of life. Many seniors became lonely and depressed without family and friend visitation. Some became non ambulatory without that family member who walked them daily affecting their quality and quantity of life greatly. What is not mentioned is the blocking of safe, effective therapeutics for prevention and treatment so that stakeholders could profit-no age group should be held hostage.
This is such a good point. I worked in healthcare with the elderly population and you are absolutely right. Denial of therapeutics was disastrous for the elderly who were isolated.
