Untangling what is going on with the mortality statistics sure is going to be hard when all scientific discussion of the vaccines has been strangled.
Thanks Metatron. The excess non-Covid mortality in 2021 is also seen at the European level. And clearest in younger/middle age vaccinated cohorts where the Covid-death noise is less important: 15-44 and 45-64 years (but even 65-74 it's quite there).
If you filter https://www.usmortality.com/ for younger age bands you'll see some worrying development... namely excess deaths ramping up this year and now running 2000+/week for 25-44 year olds. Nasty. Be interesting to see how it correlates to that age-group getting jabbed/boosted.
I see Euromomo 15-44 is elevated and hasn't touched the baseline since summer. As there's no great covid correlation with these age groups like the older age bands. I assume we're now seeing vaccine or lockdown effects via cancer, heart attacks, suicide, strokes.
You might find this interesting: The death rate isn’t just high for 2021 as a whole for athletes from heart attacks, the most compelling aspect of this is the increase in the death rate as more athletes have been vaccinated. To the point now that over half of the athlete heart attack deaths for the entire year have occurred in the last 3 months. The rate has increased by 6x from what it was in the first 3 months of the year as more athletes have been vaccinated.
One of the less quantitatively studied (though qualitatively pointed out by many) phenomenon post vaccination was the enrichment of the so called "Variants of concern" in the population level prevalence immediately after UK's vaccine rollout. This graphic I adapted from Trevor Bedford (twitter) shows definitively that regardless of whatever caused the enhanced variation in viral genetics, mass immunization certainly allowed for these higher pathogenic variants to persist and take over the reigns from the Wuhan Strain.
